In partnership with Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, graduate assistants and interns from Ball State's College of Architecture and Planning Indianapolis Center canvassed much of the capital city to catalog, photograph, and evaluate the condition of abandoned homes for the Mayor's Abandoned Homes Initiative.

Student teams used a handheld geographic information system (GIS) to survey every street in roughly the old city limits of Indianapolis.
