Tracking Economic Trends
Patrick Barkey, director of economic and policy studies, and Gary Santoni, George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics, also share
their economic forecasts at public presentations in Muncie and Indianapolis.

Business and community leaders across Indiana keep tabs on the state's economy through a weekly report produced by Ball State's Bureau of Business Research.

Under the direction of Patrick Barkey, director of economic and policy studies in the Miller College of Business, the bureau distributes the Indiana Business Bulletin each Friday by e-mail. The bulletin's subscription base of 100 organizations includes newspapers, magazines, television stations, economic development organizations, banks, and businesses.

The weekly bulletin provides current and comprehensive information about Indiana's economy with analysis by Barkey. His weekly analysis is printed by daily newspapers and other publications around the state, including the Indianapolis Business Journal.

The Internet-based bulletin features some 250 statistical tables and 1,200 graphs, most of which are updated daily. The information is primarily collected from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Subscribers may request data about certain geographic areas. Future plans call for developing interactive tools to allow subscribers to design their own tables, reports, and graphs.
