The following mission statement guides Ball State University's Building Better Communities initiative:
To raise the per capita income of Indiana citizens by providing planning and technical assistance services that facilitate the improvement of education, the enhancement of quality of life, and the development of an environment that creates and attracts high-paying jobs to Indiana communities.
