Science & Technology Social Studies
Recommended for: All Business Majors
In order to satisfy the requirements of the University Core Curriculum, students in the Business majors are required to take courses in many different disciplines. Identify a Core Curriculum or other non-major course you have taken which introduced you to concepts, theories, or experiences which were new, unusual, or challenging for you. Then, explain two reasons why you would or would not recommend this course to other students pursuing degrees in your major.
Recommended for: All Education Majors
Identify one Core Curriculum or non-major course you have taken that challenged or influenced you either academically and/or personally; and explain how specific ideas, experiences, and/or concepts from this course affected your thinking and/or your actions.
Recommended for: Any Major
At the university level, writing is considered and intellectual tool that helps students develop their thinking and communication skills. Identify one project or assignment that required substantial writing which you completed during a Core Curriculum or other non-major course. Describe the role or roles writing played in that project or assignment, and explain what the project or assignment taught you about thinking, writing, and/or communication.
Recommended for: Art, English, Foreign Language, Music, Theater, Visual Communication Majors
Students in the Liberal and Fine Arts disciplines are required to take courses in the Physical, Earth, and Life sciences, Social and Behavioral sciences, and International/Global Studies in order to satisfy the requirements of the University Core Curriculum. Identify one concept, theory, experience, or idea that was presented to you in one science, social science, or global/international studies course you have taken, and explain why you found it remarkable, memorable, significant, or useful in another setting.
Recommended for: Architecture, Computer Studies, Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Industrial Technology, Math, Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences Majors (etc.)
In order to satisfy the requirements of the Core Curriculum, students in the Science and Technology exam cluster take courses in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, Fine Arts and Humanities, and International/Global Studies. Identify one concept, theory, experience, or idea that was presented to you in a social science, fine arts and humanities, or international/global studies course you have taken, and explain why you found it remarkable, memorable, significant, or useful in another academic setting.
Recommended for: Communication Studies, Criminal Justice, History, Journalism, Natural Sciences, Psychological Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Telecommunications, and Political Science Majors
