DIDO (Digital Images Delivered Online)
D.I.D.O. (Digital Images Delivered Online)
DIDO, or Digital Images Delivered Online, is an ongoing project to provide high quality images of the 11,000 artworks in the Ball State University Museum of Art collection in a searchable database.  There are now approximately 1,000 images available.  As the project continues additional images from the museum's collection, covering a range of six continents and 5,000 years of culture, will be added.

The DIDO project was generously supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and a Ball State University Enhanced Provost Initiative.

A.R.T. Database
Users can still search the collection using A.R.T. (Art Reference Terminal) which is the orgininal electronic database for the Ball State University Museum of Art collection. This visual and educational resource allows visitors to view records of all the objects in the museum's collection, including those in storage and on loan to other institutions.

This database offers documentation of each work, including the artist/contributor's name, nationality, birth and death dates, title, date of execution, materials, size, and credit line as well as (for most objects) inscriptions, condition, provenance, exhibition records, and references. Many of the records also include additional information about the subject and artist, as well as a discussion of the style or era.

A.R.T. Key Terms provides a glossary of terms that are used within the database.

Using the A.R.T. Database provides helpful hints on using the database.

Clicking below will take you to the A.R.T. database search page and indicates your understanding of the Terms and Conditions.  Information regarding the publication of images in the museum collection can be found at Rights and Reproductions.
