This minor offers an opportunity for undergraduate students in all disciplines to learn more about historic preservation as national interest in this field continues to grow.

Admission Requirements
The minor in historic preservation is open to undergraduate students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate study. Admission is determined on the basis of each applicant's qualifications. Students may be admitted who have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average and have demonstrated proficiency in research and writing in their previous studies.

Admission Process
Students interested in this minor must apply for admission to the program. More information on the minor in historic preservation and the application form is available online and at the Department of Architecture's main office (Architecture Building 402). An interview with the Director of Historic Preservation Programs is recommended before applying. Completed application forms should be returned to:

You also need to request that your Ball State transcript be sent to the Director of Historic Preservation Programs. In addition, the following materials must accompany your application:

  • Two letters of recommendation or completed recommendation forms.
  • A statement that briefly describes your background, rationale for pursuing the minor in historic preservation, and educational objectives.
