Ball State University received funding from the Lilly Foundation to promote research initiatives. The Clinical Exercise Physiology Program was successful in obtaining support through this program to support bringing a visiting researcher to campus.
The CEP program has been increasingly involved in research on physical activity assessment in clinical populations during the past 2 years. This new area of research has opened the doors for collaborative efforts with other laboratories and it is hoped that these collaborations will lead to multi-centered, externally funded research projects. We have begun some research collaborations with colleagues from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee during the past 18 months. Dr. Scott Strath is one of the leading researchers on physical activity assessments made with accelerometers.
Dr. Strath spent one week at the Ball State University Human Performance Lab in September 2007 and will return for a second week in June 2008.
We are please to have one of our alumni return to further the research capabilities of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Program.
