
During your second year in the Clinical Exercise PhysiologyProgram, you will gain valuable internship experience at Ball Memorial Hospital in their Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Oncology Rehabilitation Programs. You will work as part of the rehabilitation program staff learning important knowledge and skills while gaining experience in the field of clinical exercise physiology. These experiences/responsibilities include:
- Obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Working one-on-one with patients, charting program responses
- Monitoring blood pressure, electrocardiography, and oxygen saturation
- Monitoring for signs and symptoms of exercise intolerance
- Preparing and administering exercise prescriptions
- Providing education on risk factor modifications
- Encouraging behavioral interventions to promote healthful lifestyle changes
- Enhancing patients' quality of life
- Becoming familiar with common administrative practices and procedures in clinical exercise programs, such as consent forms, insurance policies, plan of care, etc.
