Ball State students are earning prestigious scholarships, reflecting both the quality of students we attract and the outstanding faculty who inspire them to achieve. In July, Sara Sorrell was honored with the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, the single most lucrative scholarship available to college seniors. Sorrell received the maximum $300,000, which she will use to earn a medical degree. Senior biology and premed major Amanda Reese, who was awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, plans to pursue a combined MD/PhD in pediatrics with a specialization in genetic diseases. "It feels wonderful to know the hard work has paid off," she says. "Not just on my part as a student, but also by the faculty."
In past years, Ball State students also have been awarded the Morris K. Udall Scholarship, Rotary International Scholarship, Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship, and Fulbright Fellowship.
