Float Rules:
- All floats must get a police escort to the lineup site, located at the Muncie Central High School parking lot. For an escort, contact the University Police Department at 285-1111
- The parade will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Entries should arrive at the parade lineup site at 7:00 a.m. Please arrange to be dropped off at the parade site or ride on the float/vehicle you plan to drive in the parade. There will be no additional space for parking vehicles not used in the parade.
*NOTE: due to time constraints this year, we are only accepting a limited number of parade entries. Sorry, no exceptions.
- Float Size: Maximum measurements for floats are: 15 feet high (from the ground) 11 feet wide and 22 feet long. Jeeps, flatbed trucks, pick-ups, etc. may be used for floats. A standard hay wagon or farm wagon may also be used at the base. (A standard hay wagon consists of a frame and four wheels). The height restriction of 15 feet has been adopted for your protection so that the float will clear all the wires and trees along the parade route. All floats must adhere to these limitations and be capable of negotiating corners on the parade route.
- In order to be in the float line-up, the float must adhere to the guidelines for the theme, form, and appearance, as specified on the final entry form. The Parade theme is "Red, White + U!"
- It is the responsibility of the participating organization to remove its float from the parade route and campus immediately following the parade
- Each float entry is required to have a cloth banner preceding the float. The banner can be a maximum of 11 feet wide by 4 feet high and a minimum of 7 feet by 4 feet
- Banners must carry the names of participating organization(s) and sponsor(s)
- Banners can carry any other designs suitable for the parade
- No more than two persons should carry banners at a time, but the carriers may change along the parade route as long as they are members of the sponsoring organization(s)
- Maximum cost for construction of the float should not exceed $500
- Two cars are permitted to accompany each float without paying an additional fee. Cars that accompany floats will line up behind the float. Cars may have a maximum of five persons each
- Float entries can have up to 15 persons walk behind without paying an additional fee
