Parade Car/Walking Information

Parade Car/Walking Unit Rules (for those not entering floats):
  • A separate entry form must be submitted for each car/walking unit entered in the Homecoming parade
  • Car/Walking entries must be identified by a sign which includes the sponsoring organization represented or a sign identifying the individuals riding in the vehicle
  • For safety reasons, the vehicle should carry a reasonable and sensible number of individuals (i.e. a full-sized automobile is limited to a maximum of five individuals.)
  • There is $20 entry fee for car/walking units. Car/walking units consist of no more than two cars, with a maximum of five persons per car and 15 walkers per unit
  • The parade will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Entries should arrive at the line-up site, located at Muncie Central High School parking lot, by 7:00 a.m. Please arrange to be dropped off at the parade site or ride on the float/vehicle you plan to drive in the parade. There will be no additional space for parking vehicles not used in the parade.

*NOTE: due to time constraints this year, we are only accepting a limited number of parade entries.  Sorry, no exceptions.


  • The car/walking entry form, release of liability form, and $20 payment must be submitted at the Art and Journalism Building, Events Registration Table, or the Alumni Association Office, Alumni Center, 2nd Floor, 2800 W. Bethel Avenue, by 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2008 (campus entries). Community entries are due no later than Friday, September 12, 2008.

Parade Banner Information

Parade Banner Rules (for those not entering a float or car/walking unit):
  • There is a $20 fee for banner competition entries
  • Up to 15 people may be in the parade with a banner. A minimum of two may carry the banner
  • Participants should be costumed to reflect the theme of the parade, "Red, White + U!"
  • Banners should be made of cloth with a maximum size of 11 feet by 4 feet and a minimum of 7 feet by 4 feet
  • If the same banner will be used for the parade as in the campus Banner Decorating Competition, banners must be picked up at the Alumni Association Office, 2nd Floor, 2800 W. Bethel Avenue, by Thursday, September 25 or Friday, September 26 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
