The NREM Alumni Society has adopted a one mile stretch of the White River in Hamilton County as an ongoing community service project.
The group will meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 at the White River Canoe Company's new location, Rusty Oar, at 20900 S.R. 37 N, Noblesville. It is located approximately 3 miles south of Strawtown Koteewi Park.
From the Rusty Oar the group will be shuttled up to Strawtown Koteewi Park, where they will launch and clean up the adopted river segment. The lunch stop will be at the White River campground, and then they'll float another couple of miles back to their cars at the White River Canoe Company.
The entire event should take approximately 5 hours +/- depending on river flow.
The BSU Alumni Association will provide box lunches for participants. Canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided courtesy of the White River Canoe Company. All participants will be required to wear a PFD while on the water and to sign a waiver of liability.
Participants should bring drinking water, sunscreen, work gloves, and old shoes or water shoes. Family members are welcome. Children must be 10 years or older, be able to swim well and be accompanied by a parent.
Please reserve your spot no later than Monday, September 11 by emailing the Alumni Association at alumni1@bsu.edu or by calling 765-285-1080. Include your name and the names of any guests joining you, plus the ages of children who are participating. Be sure to include a contact number where you can be reached on Saturday in case the event needs to be postponed due to high water/river conditions.
We look forward to seeing you and having an enjoyable day on the water!
