You are invited to bring your children, grandchildren, or friends, and to create a special memory, along with painted pottery, at The Artist Within on Monday, July 23, 2007.
We have reserved this cozy, inviting facility from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for our summer event in downtown Muncie. Hosted by owner Bob Hartley, '69MA72, a former art teacher, you will have your choice from hundreds of items to paint while you visit with other FCS alumni and guests.
Take a few hours for yourself, or with your kids—-it will be so much fun! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others—-regardless of age. Alumna Amy Sebert Bradburn, '97, recently brought her elementary age daughter and provided a glowing review of their time together, the atmosphere of the gallery, and the choices they had in pottery to paint. They will be coming back in July.
We will provide a boxed lunch, bottled water, and the cost of paints, glazing and firing your pottery item for your $10 reservation fee.
When you arrive, you may select the piece that you wish to paint, and purchase it separately at the shop for an additional fee.
Since there is a large variety to choose from, you may select you favorite piece within whatever price range you wish. Small items begin at $4 and large ones increase in price to more than $25. For example, mugs are $8, and many items are in the $10-19 range.
Among the choices are desk accessories, pet dishes, plaques, photo frames, plates, bowls and platters in several sizes, wine coolers, teapots, collectible, animals, banks, cookie jars, and switch plates. A drawing will be held for one free item.
Say hello to these Ball State representatives who will be participating: Alice Spangler, chair of the department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Sue Taylor, '71 and Julie Johnson from the Ball State Alumni Association, and Marcia Kelly from University Development.
Lunch includes choice of turkey or ham sandwich, plus baked beans, potato salad, an apple, 2 chocolate chip cookies.
The Artist Within is located at 313 South Walnut Street in Muncie.
