Alumni Spotlight - Allison Bell, '03Allison Bell graduated from Ball State University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications. Homecoming 2006: Parade Route Changes; Entry Forms Available OnlineDue to construction on Wheeling Avenue, the 2006 Ball State Homecoming parade route has been altered. In addition, the line-up site has been moved back to Muncie Central High School; however, the parade will line-up and disperse from the lot north of the school and not the lot normally used, due to a volleyball tournament at the school that day. Cardinal Career Link Now Available to Ball State AlumniThe Career Center recently revised its online career-management and job-search tool. Cardinal Career Link, an enhanced job-search and recruiting system is now available to all alumni, replacing the former Cardinal ViewJobs. According to Larry Beck, associate director of the Career Center, “Cardinal Career Link is a vast improvement over the former Cardinal ViewJobs system with its access to thousands of job vacancies through the national NACElink Network provided by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)." FULL STORY Job Fairs and Career ListingsThe Career Alumni Network, a networking service for those in need of career direction, is available online. Fall Career Fair is scheduled for September 13, 2006 at Worthen Arena. Employers and graduate school representatives will be on campus to discuss employment, internships, and graduate programs with Ball State students. Cardinal Career Link lists thousands of employment opportunities, including full-time professional jobs for experienced alumni. Football Team Opens Season with 38-20 VictoryBall State used a strong offensive performance Thursday night to open the season with a 38-20 victory over Eastern Michigan at Scheumann Stadium. Nearly every Cardinal offensive player contributed. Four Ball State rushers combined for 166 yards on the ground, and two quarterbacks combined for 230 yards through the air. Eight different Cardinal receivers caught at least one pass.

Women's Volleyball heads for Bama BashThe Ball State women’s volleyball team continues the 2006 season this weekend when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the "Bama Bash" hosted by Alabama. The Cardinals open play in the two-day tournament at 10 a.m. Friday when it takes on the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. Ball State will then play the host Crimson Tide in the featured match Friday night at 7 p.m. Saturday morning, the Cardinals conclude play in the tournament with an 11 a.m. showdown with the Mercer Bears. 'Corbin’s Corner' A weekly women’s basketball journalBall State women's basketball fans can follow the Cardinals throughout the season from a player's perspective as senior guard Kelsey Corbin (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop HS) will author "Corbin's Corner", a weekly women's basketball journal. The journal will be available on www.ballstatesports.com each Friday, accessible on the women's basketball page. The journal will be available each week starting with preseason conditioning, through practice and into the 2006-07 season. FULL STORY
Football team names 2006 captainsJoey Lynch (Muncie, Ind./Delta H.S.) and Brad Seiss (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw H.S.) have been named team captains for the 2006 Ball State University football season. "These two individuals are outstanding leaders, quality football players and excellent individuals," BSU head coach Brady Hoke says. "It has been a pleasure coaching them the last few years, and we look forward to their senior seasons. They mean a lot to our football team, and to the Ball State football program. Being named a team captain is a very high honor, and one rich in tradition." FULL STORY
Stephanie DeFeo named assistant softball coachStephanie DeFeo, the former head softball coach at North Carolina Greensboro and East Tennessee State, has been named the assistant softball coach at Ball State University, according to first-year head coach Craig Nicholson. DeFeo spent the 2005-06 season as the sole proprietor and manager of All-American Softball Clinics where she provided private lessons for hitting, pitching, catching and fielding.
