Alumni Spotlight - Mike Adams, '71 (9/1/2005) Mike and Bonnie Adams
Mike Adams graduated from Ball State University in 1971 with degrees in political science and history. Mike served as a United States Marine Corps Officer for 26 years until his retirement in 1998. That same year he received a master's degree from Salve Regina University. He is currently a sales manager with Coldwell Banker King Thompson Real Estate in Columbus, Ohio.
While at Ball State, Mike was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and met Bonnie through mutual friends in 1968. During that time Bonnie continued her career as a registered nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital, and Mike in the Marine Corps, and they decided to go their separate ways. However, when Mike retired in 1998 he found Bonnie through the Internet and they dated for a year before marrying in April of 1999.
When asked about his feelings toward Ball State, Mike states "Ball State was a turning point in my life. I came from Gary, Indiana and my family all worked in the area's steel mill. Ball State exposed me to a world that was full of personal and professional choices. It gave me the tools and confidence to be an ‘officer of marines' for those many years and introduced me to the love of my life, Bonnie."
Mike and Bonnie both work in the real estate industry in central Ohio and have this year celebrated the births of their first and second grandsons: Alan was born on May 8th and Kaanan was born on June 28th.

2005 Soccer: The secret to their success (9/1/2005) BSU Women's Soccer
The formula for success for the 2005 Ball State women's soccer team entails a series of objectives, according to seventh-year head coach Ron Rainey. The final goal is an appearance in the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
Rainey's recipe to achieving this goal includes three steps.
"Our program has gotten to the point where our main goal should be to go to the NCAA Tournament," said Rainey. "Within that, there are several steps. One is to have everyone come in fit and ready to play. Two is to have a good preseason and preconference start to the Mid-American Conference schedule. Three is to have a successful conference tournament and bring a MAC Championship to Ball State."More Information
2005-06 Women's Basketball Schedule Complete (9/1/2005)In direct contrast to the last several seasons when the Cardinals have spent much of their non-conference season on the road, the Ball State women's basketball team will enjoy the friendly confines of Worthen Arena in five of its first six games in 2005.
