Job Fairs and Career ListingsThe Career Alumni Network, a networking service for those in need of career direction, is available online. Cardinal Job Fair is scheduled for February 14, 2006 at Worthen Arena. More than 100 employers will be on campus to discuss full-time, part-time off-campus, and internship opportunities with Ball State students. Cardinal Career Link lists thousands of employment opportunities, including full-time professional jobs for experienced alumni. Scheumann Stadium renovation updateBall State University has awarded Shook Construction a $13.7 million contract to renovate Scheumann Stadium. Shook Construction provides construction management, design-build and traditional general construction services to its clients covering the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Their mission is to profitably serve their client's construction needs while maintaining a reputation for quality, integrity and employee satisfaction. Founded by Charles H. Shook in 1926, Shook Construction has been named the winner of six Build Ohio Awards, two Build Indiana Awards and three Build America Awards by the Associated General Contractors of Ohio, Indiana and America respectively. Brad Snyder called up to majorsFormer Ball State baseball standout Brad Snyder was called up to the major league Cleveland Indians last week and placed on the team's 40-man roster. Snyder spent the 2006 season with the Double-A Akron Aeros, where he hit .270 with 18 home runs, 72 RBI and 20 stolen bases. The outfielder helped Akron to the Eastern League finals, where the Aeros fell to the Portland Sea Dogs in five games. Four days later, Snyder was placed on the Indians' 40-man roster.

Soccer topples Toledo, 2-1The Ball State soccer team improved to 4-0-0 in Mid-American Conference action as the Cardinals toppled Toledo, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Scott Park. The victory moves the Cardinals into sole possession of the top spot in the MAC standings after two weekends of play. "We played very well in the first half and then buckled down defensively in the second half to secure the victory," head coach Michelle Salmon said. "This afternoon was a total team effort. Any time that you can go on the road in MAC play and come away with two victories it is a great feeling."

Kyle Brennan hired as Director of ComplianceKyle Brennan, who earned his law degree from the University of Denver in 2001, has been named Ball State University's director of athletics compliance and eligibility. Brennan will be replacing Dave Land, who is retiring from Ball State after 21 years with the university, including the last 13 as director of athletics compliance and eligibility. FULL STORY | |
