2007 Distinguished Alumni Award RecipientsAlumni Spotlight this month features the Alumni Association’s 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. The Distinguished Alumni Award, the Alumni Association's highest recognition, was established in 1959 to provide recognition to alumni who have demonstrated loyalty to Ball State University and its Alumni Association, and who have made significant contributions to their profession, community, or society. 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Bob BrowningBob Browning received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Accounting in 1975. He is currently a shareholder and co-founder of Peters, Browning & Co., P.C. Peters, Browning & Co. was founded in 1994 and serves as a CPA practice providing business consulting, tax planning and preparation, financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, and various additional business and personal financial planning services. 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Matt MomperMatt Momper earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Economics in 1983 and an MBA from Drake University in 1984. He is President of Momper Insulation located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Momper Insulation was founded in 1956 by Matt's father, Charlie, and his uncle, Louie Momper. In 1990, Matt and his brother, Andy, took over the business although Charlie and wife, Jacquie, didn't fully retire for 10 more years.

2007 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Michael P. SmithMichael P. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Ball State University in 1973 and an MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is currently the Executive Director of the Media Management Center at Northwestern, an executive education and research center affiliated with Kellogg and the Medill School of Journalism. Bryan Bullington Invited To The 2007 Triple-A All-Star GameINDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Indians starting pitcher Bryan Bullington, utility man Yurendell de Caster and infielder Brian Bixler have been invited to the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game, which will be played on July 11 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, N.M. The International League's top players will face the Pacific Coast League's best in the 20th annual contest, which will be televised live on ESPN2 at 7:35 p.m. EDT.

Williams Earns All-America HonorsMUNCIE, Ind. -- Amber Williams has earned a spot on the 2007 NCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-America Team, as announced by the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In Division I track and field, the top eight finishers in each event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, including relays, are eligible for All-America status.

BSU Closer Kyle Heyne Drafted Friday By Minnesota TwinsMUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State junior closer Kyle Heyne was selected Friday by the Minnesota Twins in the 27th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 842nd overall selection. Heyne, who redshirted as a freshman in 2004, has one year of eligibility remaining at Ball State. He could choose to sign a contract with the Twins or return to school for one more season as a fifth-year senior.
