Alumni Spotlight - Erin Wyatt, '01 (1/3/2006)
Erin Wyatt earned a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2001. Upon graduating from Ball State, she became a staff nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie and then moved on to become an Oncology Certified Nurse.
Erin is currently a Cancer Educator at Bloomington Hospital's Olcott Center for Cancer Education. A job Erin describes as "unique" and also "a dream job," she provides education, support, and advocacy for those with cancer and their families. She also educates the community about cancer prevention and detection, lecturing at area high schools to teen girls about self breast exams and classes at Indiana University regarding cancer.
Erin describes her time at Ball State as fun and full of fond memories, but also prepared her for her profession. Erin says, "I think BSU has a wonderful nursing program. After I moved away from Muncie and met other nurses from other backgrounds, I really feel that Ball State has the best nursing school in the state. The faculty really prepared me for my career as a nurse." Erin was the President of the Class of 2001 for the School of Nursing while at Ball State. She plans to return to Ball State this spring as a graduate student.
