Alumni Spotlight - Kurt Wessling, '94Kurt Wessling earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies/secondary education in 1994 from Ball State University. Upon graduation, Kurt spent a couple of years teaching and coaching in Indiana at the middle and high school levels. He is currently Director of Sales for Jackson Systems, LLC in Indianapolis, a company that manufactures heating and air conditioning control products that are marketed to contractors. Teacher Fair is scheduled for May 3-4, 2006 at Worthen Arena. This program offers education majors an opportunity to collect information from school corporations, distribute résumés, and possibly interview. Cardinal ViewJobs lists thousands of employment opportunities, including full-time professional jobs for experienced alumni. Ronny Thompson introduced as Ball State men's basketball coachRonny Thompson, who completed his third season as an assistant coach at Arkansas, has been named the 17th head men's basketball coach in Ball State University history, according to BSU athletics director Tom Collins. Thompson was formally introduced as the Cardinals' head coach at a 2 p.m. press conference today in the Alumni Lounge at Worthen Arena in Muncie. Thompson, the son of legendary Hall of Fame and former Georgetown head coach John Thompson, is also the brother of current Georgetown head coach John Thompson III. Thompson, who played for his father from 1989-92 and was the team's captain as a senior, earned his bachelor's degree in sociology in 1992.

Scully breaks record at Stanford InvitationalSenior Jill Scully broke the school record in the 10,000-meter run Friday in Palo Alto, Calif., at the highly touted Stanford Invitational. Scully finished with a time of 33:54.66, automatically qualifying for the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif. At the meet, the time was good for 16th-place honors, while breaking the record previously set by the senior in 2005 of 33:58.86. FULL STORY
Cardinals shutout Buffalo in Men's TennisThe Ball State men's squad picked up its first Mid-American Conference win of the season after pushing past Buffalo 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. The Cardinals swept all three doubles matches and all six singles contests. FULL STORY
Two gymnasts named to Academic All-MAC teamJuniors Kelly Watson and Lauren West, two members of the Ball State gymnastics team, earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors, as selected by the leagues faculty athletic representatives. The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contest for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. FULL STORY | |
