Instructions for Cardinal ViewJobs

New Service for Ball State Alumni

The Career Center is pleased to announce an enhanced job search and recruiting system available to all alumni—Cardinal ViewJobs!  Cardinal ViewJobs lists thousands of jobs nation-wide and allows you to store résumés and other job search documents as well as apply for positions on-line.  A partnership with the National Association of Colleges of Employers, Cardinal ViewJobs also gives you access to the NACElink Alumni Job Search, a nation-wide database of hundreds of thousands of job openings.  This service is free but a user name and password are required.    The system is password protected to ensure that employment opportunities for Ball State candidates are only accessed by BSU students and alumni.

Cardinal ViewJobs allows you to:

  • Search for all types of jobs, including part-time, full-time, internship, co-op, fellowships, and seasonal employment
  • Apply for jobs online
  • Track your job search activities, including job listings you've applied to
  • Receive notification of new job openings that fit your job-search profile
  • Make notes on employers and job listings
  • Upload résumés and cover letters tailored to specific employers or job listings
  • Store up to 10 versions of your résumé; up to 10 versions of your cover letter; and up to10 other job-search documents such as writing samples, pictures/graphics, your portfolio, etc.
  • Print formatted copies of any of your job-search materials
  • Send your résumé and other job-search documents to employers online
  • Receive e-newsletters from the Career Center

Getting Started with Cardinal ViewJobs

Go to the View Jobs Web Site

To register:

  1. Click the "Register for the first time" link.
  2. Enter the Ball State Outlook user name you used as a student (or your VAX user name if that was used when you were in school).  Can't remember either one?  Contact the Career Center at (765) 285-1522 and we'll assign you a temporary user name and password.
  3. Once in Cardinal ViewJobs, select your own unique user name and password.  Then click "Create My Account."
  4. Enter your personal information on the first page. Fields marked "required" must be completed.  When finished, click "Submit Information."
  5. Enter your educational information on the second page. If you have entered all your educational information and: (Plan no further study, click "Completed entry of degrees, no further study planned." Plan to continue study after graduation, click "Completed entry of degrees, I plan to study in the future," complete the page that appears, then click Submit Information. Have completed degrees from other institutions, click "I have completed degree(s) from other institutions," complete the page that appears, and then click Submit Information.Hold other degrees from Ball State, click the link that says "I have additional degrees from this institution," complete the page that appears, and then click Submit Information.Complete your educational information and click "Submit Information.")
  6. Enter your employment preference information. Note: You can change this information as your job-search status changes. Click "Submit."
  7. Preview your candidate profile. Edit any areas that need changing. You can edit your profile at any time in the future.
  8. Click on "Services Desired" at the bottom of the profile page.
  9. Review the programs and services offered by the Ball State Career Center and check those that you would like to use or want more information about. Click "Submit Desired Services."
  10. Review your profile and click "Complete profile."
  11. You can begin using the job search tools on the "My Services" page.

To use Cardinal ViewJobs:

Login to the system. If you have trouble logging in or cannot remember your password, contact the Career Center at (765) 285-1522.

The "My Services" page serves as your "home page" when using Cardinal ViewJobs.  This page and the navigation bar at the top of each Cardinal ViewJobs page will help you find the tools and features you need.

On the "My Services" page, all of the various services you may use are listed with brief descriptions.

The navigation bar is consistent on all subsequent pages in Cardinal ViewJobs.  The links listed are the most frequently used functions and will save you time in accessing the tools you need.

Click the logout link in the navigation bar at the top of the page when you're ready to end your session.  You will be returned to the Career Center home page.

Tips on how to use Cardinal ViewJobs as well as frequent updates will be e-mailed to you as a registered user.  Good luck with your job search and please share your feedback with us about the new Cardinal ViewJobs!
