Vice President Suzie Huber called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.
New members Amy Bradburn and Barbara Norrick were welcomed and introduced.
Suzie asked for corrections or additions to the minutes of the November 7, 2002 meeting. Jama Kirby Montgomery moved to approve the minutes as written, Jeanine LeMaster seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
NEW BUSINESS
FCS Symposium & Awards Event, Thursday, April 3, 2003—Alice Spangler distributed a draft of the Symposium format. The tentative agenda is as follows:

2:00 – 3:45 p.m. Faculty/Student presentations, posters, displays
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Keynote speaker, Dr. Penny Ralston
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Reception hosted by Dr. Nancy Kingsbury, Dean, College of Applied Sciences and Technology
6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Dinner and Alumni Awards Presentations

The Symposium will be conducted by the FCS department, and Brad Klemm, FCS graduate student, will assist with publicizing and arranging the Symposium segment through the reception. The Awards Planning Committee/Menu and Decorations Committee were revised to form one Awards Dinner Committee: Corine Carr, Suzie Huber, Alice Spangler, Sue Taylor, and Linda Wallace. Jeanine LeMaster and Jama Kirby Montgomery volunteered to assist in any way needed.
The Awards Selection Committee will meet Wednesday, February 19, 5:30 p.m., Alumni Center, Conference Room 2. Committee members: Suzie Huber, Jackie Johnston, Alice Spangler, Sue Taylor, and Linda Wallace.
Election of Secretary—Former secretary, Patricia Barnes, passed away November 15, 2002. A financial gift was given in memory of Pat to the BSU Cardinal Varsity Club. Following discussion it was agreed to table nominations for the position of secretary until the next board meeting. Members are asked to volunteer if they have an interest in taking notes at future meetings.
OLD BUSINESS
E-Mentoring Program
It was reported that there are currently six or seven students/mentors who have been paired. Sue suggested that we evaluate the program at the end of the school year. There was discussion to consider offering the program to freshmen and also to recent graduates.
FCS History Committee
The next Committee meeting will be Wednesday, February 19, 2003, 10:00 a.m., Alumni Center. Jane Brooks from University Development will assist with fund-raising. Jama requested the board to share memories to be used as part of a history project and to submit to her via e-mail at: jmontgomery1310@al.com Please use “Ball State Memories” as the subject line.

Alice announced the 2003 Chocolate Extravaganza, Sunday, March 2. Details were e-mailed to the board. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for students of all ages.
OTHER BUSINESS
One board position is open and two names were submitted for consideration. Sue will contact one to determine her interest, and if she accepts, the second one will be considered for a future opening.
The next board meeting will be either June 3, 4 or 5, 2003. The date and location will be communicated to the board when it is confirmed.
There being no further business, Corine Carr made a motion to adjourn, Jama Kirby Montgomery seconded the motion and the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
