Members present: Julie Johnson, Bonnie Johnston Jackie Johnston, Marla Kurtz, Jeanine LeMaster, Laura Mickler, Barbara Norrick, Nicole Rongo, Alice Spangler, Sharon Stephen, and Sue Taylor.

President Jeanine LeMaster called the meeting to order 6:02 p.m.

New board members Nicole Rongo and Laura Mickler introduced themselves.

Following a motion by Marla Kurtz to approve the February 26, 2008 meeting minutes, and a second by Jackie Johnston, the minutes were unanimously approved with typo corrections noted.

FCS DEPARTMENTAL UPDATE – STUDENT AWARDS

Alice Spangler summarized the department student awards. A portfolio was presented to Matthew DeGeeter who received the Outstanding Senior Award at the April 4, 2008 event.  Sharon Stephen presented awards on behalf of the FCS Alumni Society.

2008 ALUMNI AWARDS EVENT

Bonnie Johnston presented the proposed menu of grilled pork for Spring Alumni Day, to be held on May 17 in Assembly Hall.  Final edits were suggested for the program to be printed.  Alice reported on guest speaker Nicole Rash, Miss Indiana and first runner-up of the Miss America Pageant.  Alice is awaiting confirmation from Nicole.  Sue Taylor encouraged all board members to attend the event and invite others to help increase attendance.

AWARDS COMMITTEE MEETING DATE

Committee members; Barbara Norrick, Bonnie Johnston, Jackie Johnston and Sue Taylor will meet August 20 at 10 a.m. to review the criteria for the awards.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT DAY

Sue will be distributing names to contact over the summer.

Career Development Day – October 30, 2008 – Board meeting to follow at 1:30 p.m.

Homecoming – September 27, 2008
