President Mary Buckley called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. and asked for any corrections or additions to the minutes of the October 23, 2007 Nursing Alumni Society board of directors meeting.  Mary made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Jan Noel seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by voice vote.

Pinning Ceremonies – The pinning ceremony will be tomorrow, Friday, December 14, 2007 at Emens Auditorium. Mary and Susan Alvis are distributing the flowers and scissors. The May class officers will pass out the programs. Nancy Dillard will read the class names and Linda Siktberg will present the pins.

Committee Assignments – Membership for each committee was reviewed.  Jan Noel will be the chairman for the Scholarship Selection committee.  She will notify the committee of a meeting date.  Connie McIntosh was appointed as the chairman for the Outstanding Nursing Alumni Awards committee.  Mary will be chairman of the Nursing Alumni Banquet committee.  Ernie Krug will send a copy of the banquet program to the committee via electronic mail.  Each committee will need to meet prior to the next scheduled board meeting.

Department Update – Linda Siktberg conducted a tour of the Simulation Center located in the School of Nursing.  The board viewed a short video about the use of Low and High Fidelity Simulators, computer controlled Annie's, that are used to help train students.  The lab has Sim Man; an adult male, Sim Baby; an infant approximately 3 months of age, and Sim Noelle; an adult female that can simulate different stages of labor.  The simulators are computer programmable and interactive so students can train on them.  PDA's were also passed around for the board to view.  Each PDA comes with five text books.  Students may take a quiz, view short videos, interact with instructors and cross reference.  The cost of the PDA is $540.

Upcoming Dates – The next board meeting will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center board room.
