Board Members and Guests Present: Mary Buckley, DeLisa Flynn, Kathy Hutson, Marcia Kelly, Ernie Krug, Shonet Lambert-Martin, Janet Noel, Linda Siktberg, and Ruth Ann Tolle.

President Mary Buckley called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. and the minutes of the December 12, 2006 Board of Directors meeting were approved.

December 2006 Pinning Ceremony - The board agreed to sponsor a reception after all future pinnings. The sponsorship would include the room rental and refreshments. The School of Nursing will make the arrangements. There are currently three pinning ceremony's: spring, summer and winter. The new summer pinning ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2007 in Cardinal Hall. Practice is Thursday, July 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Outstanding Nursing Alumni - Kathy Hutson and DeLisa Flynn gave the report. There were seven nominees and the board selected Patricia M. (Ryan) Toney, class of 1978. Mary Buckley will contact Toney, who lives in New Braunfels, Texas.

2006-07 Nursing Scholarships – Jan Noel reported on behalf of the committee. There were 24 applicants and 12 were selected to receive a $1,500.00 scholarship. The scholarships will be awarded during the second summer and fall terms. The board approved two changes for 2008. All applicants must complete a semester of nursing classes before the scholarship deadline, (February 1), and the individual scholarship range is limited to $2,000.00.

Nursing Alumni Banquet – The banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 5:30 p.m. social hour and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The classes of 1952 and 1957 are having reunions. Changes made to the 2006 banquet program have been made permanent. Charms for the 25-and 50-year classes will be placed with their name tags at the registration table. Corsages for the most-senior nurses and farthest traveled will also be placed with their name tags. There will be a moment of silence before the meal. The roll call of classes will begin with the most-senior class, and each individual class year will be called through the 50-year class. The roll call will continue by decade.

The Link/Spring Newsletter – Connie McIntosh will coordinate the newsletter again this year. Linda Siktberg reported that the School of Nursing will publish a magazine during the next academic year. The spring newsletter that announces the annual banquet will be produced by the Alumni Association staff in 2008.

Spring Pinning Ceremony – Pinning is Friday, May 4, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Practice is May 3, from 2-4 p.m. Kathy Hutson and Nadia Paul agreed to meet with the May class. All data for the pinning program is due Tuesday, April 3, to Ernie Krug at the Alumni Association.

Alumni Council Report – Kathy Hutson reported on the January 13, 2007 meeting. The Council approved a memorandum encouraging all alumni leaders and staff to work toward increasing alumni involvement. That includes increasing attendance at events and the number of alumni donating to the university.

Children's Museum – Kathy Hutson arranged a presentation and tour by Museum Education Specialist Shonet Lambert-Martin. The tour included a possible new location for our interactive exhibit. The board will work with the School of Nursing on the project. Kathy Hutson agreed to chair a committee. Contact Kathy if you are interested in serving on the committee.

Next Meeting – The next board meeting will be Tuesday, April 10, at 5:30 p.m., at the Alumni Center.
