FCS Meeting Minutes, September 19, 2006
Members Present: Diane Blankenship, Trish Bowerman, Amy Bradburn, Suzie Huber, Jackie Johnston, Jama Kirby Montgomery, Marla Kurtz, Joe Oliver, Alice Spangler, Sharon Stephen, Sue Taylor, Linda Wallace, and Sandra Wimmer.

President Suzie Huber called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Appreciation was expressed to Joe Oliver for hosting the meeting and providing a tour of McDonald's Restaurant and state-of-the-art equipment. Joe also provided information about career management opportunities with McDonalds.

Regarding minutes of the May 17, 2006 meeting, it was noted on page 1 that April 14, 2006 FCS Awards Day should read 2007.  Following a motion by Linda Wallace to approve the May 17, 2006 meeting minutes, the motion was seconded by Marla Kurtz, and the minutes were unanimously approved as corrected.

OLD BUSINESS
Communique Newsletter—Marla reported that the newsletter has a new design and it is being prepared for an electronic mailing, targeted for October 2006.

FCS History Committee—Alice reported that the committee is working on gaps in historical dates and that there will be a committee meeting sometime in November 2006.

An overview of the FCS Alumni Ghyslain Chocolatier Event held Wednesday, June 28, 2006, was given by attendees.  There were 13 at the luncheon and tour, with some attending their first FCS alumni event.

Sue reported that the FCS Alumni Society Fund, Foundation Account #3905, has a balance of $591.16. Approximately $25 will be spent on a plaque for the CMD keynote speaker in October.

NEW BUSINESS
2006 Career Mentoring Day—Thursday, October 26.  One more presenter is needed for Apparel Design and Fashion Merchandising.  Keynote speaker and also a breakout session presenter for this area will be Candie Allen, '01, Assistant Product Manager—Far East Domestic, for Chico's headquarters in Fort Myers, FL.

FCS Awards Day—Discussion included program ideas such as unveiling of the History project, tying in a family event, brunch, entertainment, and/or student involvement. The board was requested to e-mail new ideas to Sue Taylor.

Planning Committee—Trish Bowerman, Amy Bradburn, Jama Kirby-Montgomery, Jeanine LeMaster, Barbara Norrick, Alice Spangler, Sue Taylor.

Awards Criteria Committee—Jackie Johnston, Alice Spangler, Sue Taylor, and Linda Wallace.
