Vice President Mary Buckley called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and asked for any corrections or additions to the minutes of the August 30, 2005 Nursing Alumni board of directors meeting.  Kathy Hutson made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.  Jan Noel seconded the motion and the minutes were approved by voice vote.

Old Business
Nursing Historical Project—Ernie Krug reported that Pat McCallister is working with Charlotte Shepperd, Director, Alumni Communications, Alumni Association, to format the materials for the project.

2005 December Nursing Pinning Ceremony—The Pinning Ceremony will be Saturday, December 17, 2:00 p.m., Emens Auditorium.  The board is encouraged to attend the Ceremony as a support.  Kathy Hutson and Brandy Renz will meet with the graduating class on Monday, October 10.  The following information is needed by the School of Nursing:

• Confirmation of rehearsal (Friday, December 16, 2:00 p.m., Emens)
• Confirmation of the number of December 2005 graduates (36)
• Data for the Ceremony Program—Needed by Friday, November 11.
• Confirmation of who will distribute the programs—Kathy will contact Phyllis Chapin
  

Volunteers for arrangements were made as follows:

• Flowers Order—Pam Cole
• Scissors Order—Mary will request Connie McIntosh to place the order.
• Equipment/Services from Emens Auditorium—Kathy will coordinate with Emens staff.

Committee Assignments—The following committees were established:

• 2006 Outstanding Nursing Alumni Award—Pam Cole, Mario Contreraz, Kathy Hutson, Connie McIntosh, and Brandy Renz.
• 2006Nursing Alumni Scholarships—Mary Buckley, DeLisa Flynn, Jan Noel, Ruth Ann Tolle
• Banquet Review Committee—Connie McIntosh, Mary Buckley, Ernie Krug, and Linda Siktberg.

New Business
2006 Nursing Alumni Scholarships—Application deadline in February 1, 2006.  It was noted that publicity for the scholarships needs to be enhanced.  Perhaps SON professors could announce the scholarship opportunity and have applications available.  Also, Nursing Alumni board representatives could attend a class meeting and distribute scholarship applications.

2006 Nursing Alumni Banquet—Saturday, April 29, Alumni Center.  There will be a reception at 5:30 p.m.  Dinner and programs will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Alumni Association/Alumni Council Update
The Alumni Association is gearing up for Homecoming, Saturday, October 15.  Connie McIntosh is coordinating a Parade float entry for the Nursing Alumni Association.   Help is needed with decorating and riding on the float.

The next Alumni Council meeting is Saturday, January 21, 2006.

The next Nursing Alumni board of directors meeting will be Thursday, December 8, 2005, 5:15 p.m., Alumni Center, Board Room.  Dinner will follow at 6:00 p.m., 909 Grille, 909 North Wheeling. (Pam Cole will make restaurant reservations).
