Board Members Present: Susan Alvis, Diane Blankenship, Mary Buckley, Phyllis Chapin, Pam Cole, Shane House, Kathy Hutson, Ernie Krug, Linda Siktberg, Ruth Ann Tolle.

Vice President Mary Buckley called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. and asked for any corrections or additions to the minutes of the February 15 Nursing Alumni Board of directors meeting.  Correction:  Page 2, New Business, May 2005 Pinning Ceremony—Flowers and scissors will be distributed by Brandy Renz and Phyllis Chapin instead of Ruth Ann Tolle.  Kathy Hutson made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected.  Phyllis Chapin seconded the motion and the minutes were approved by voice vote.

Old Business

2005 Nursing Alumni Banquet—Saturday, April 30.  Members assisting with registration should arrive at 5:00 p.m.  Pam Cole has ordered the flowers, and Kathy Hutson will order 25 gold charms.  To-date there will be class reunions for the Classes of 1950, 1955, 1965, 1975, 1980, and December 1994.  Ernie Krug stated that reservations of board members and one guest will be complimentary.  There will be one continuous tour for both Ball Memorial Hospital and School of Nursing from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Volunteers for both tours have been confirmed. 

2005 Nursing Pinning Ceremony—Friday, May 6, 7:00 p.m., Emens Auditorium.  Rehearsal will be Thursday, May 5, 2:00 p.m., Emens Auditorium.  Linda Siktberg reported there are 61 graduates and 16 are second degree graduates.  Shane House and Kathy Hutson met with the graduating class and were very complimentary of them.  Junior class members will distribute the programs.  Sherri White has ordered the scissors.  Kathy Hutson recommended that, beginning this year and in the future, at least two board members should attend the rehearsal for visibility and support.  The board agreed.  Susan Alvis, Shane, and Kathy volunteered to represent the board at rehearsal this year.  Mary Buckley also encouraged all board members to attend the Pinning Ceremony.

Community Project—Sherri White will be Nurse Molly in the last two videos, which will be recorded April 22, 2005.  The script is written and the second video will be recorded on DVD. 

New Business

2005-2006 Board of Directors Slate—Officers are as follows:  Connie McIntosh, president; Mary Buckley, vice president; Ruth Ann Tolle, secretary.  Kathy Hutson agreed to a new three-year term as Alumni Council Representative, ending December 31, 2008.   Terms ending are Pam Cole, Sherri White, and Ruth Ann Tolle.  Pam and Ruth Ann accepted new terms ending December 31, 2008, and Mary Buckley will contact Sherri White to discern her interest in serving another term.

Department Update

Renovations are still in progress and should be finished by Fall 2005.  Linda suggested that perhaps a board meeting and tour of the lab could be scheduled when the renovations are complete.

There are 101 applicants for 2005 Fall Semester and the number of admission acceptance depends on the university and budget.

President Jo Ann Gora and Dean Nancy Kingsbury are very supportive to School of Nursing needs and have approved new equipment and a second campus lab. 

Alumni Council Update

The next Alumni Council meeting will be Saturday, June 11, 2005 in conjunction with Alumni College.

The next Nursing Alumni Board of directors meeting will be Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 5:30 p.m., Alumni Center Board Room.
