OLD BUSINESS

Communique Newsletter—Marla reported that the newsletter will be ready for publication in about a month.  The cost is over $4,000 each year (for two issues), and the FCS account cannot continue to sustain the expense.  A Web option with an email announcement is viable. Another option suggested was to mail one issue and also publish it on the Web.  The BSUAA can assist by emailing/mailing a survey.  Following discussion, Jackie Johnston made a motion to prepare, mail, and also email a survey to FCS alumni.  Barbara Norrick seconded the motion and it was approved.  The survey should include a request for email addresses, career employment, and opinion of Communique Newsletter being published on-line. The following members will serve as the Survey Preparation Committee:  Jackie Johnston, Jama Kirby Montgomery, Alice Spangler, Sharon Stephen, and Sue Taylor.  Sue suggested that it be sent electronically to those who can complete it online, and only land mail it to those who cannot. She also suggested that we select the graduation years of those we wish to receive it to reduce printing and postage expenses.

2004 FCS Career Mentoring Day—Sue reported that two dates are being held for the Alumni Center use:  November 4 or 11.  The following board members volunteered to contact potential session speakers:  Amy Bradburn, Jackie Johnston, Jama Kirby Montgomery, Jeanine LeMaster, Sharon Stephen, and Sandra Wimmer.

FCS History Committee—Nothing new to report.

NEW BUSINESS

FCS Alumni Social Event—Sue reported on behalf of Suzie Huber, that an FCS alumni event has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 21 at the Indiana State Museum and Ayres Tearoom in Indianapolis.  FCS alumni in the Indianapolis area will be invited by email or land   mail.  Because the maximum capacity is 60, only the first 60 reservations can be accepted.  The cost is $25 and lunch will be in the Tea Room at 11:30 a.m.  A tour of the Museum will follow.  Suzie Huber will be asked to give a Welcome, and Alice to briefly update on the Department.  If Suzie is unable, then Jackie Johnston will assist.  Sue said that the Alumni van will leave at 10:00 a.m. and that 4 others could join her and Diane.

FCS Alumni Award Nominations—Board members are encourage to view http://www.bsu.edu/alumni/awards/

And make nominations for 2005 award presentations.

FCS Alumni Society Fund—Sue reported a balance of $888 minus $15 to pay an invoice for the Outstanding Senior Award.

Following discussion regarding the next board meeting date, Jama Kirby Montgomery moved that it be scheduled to follow 2004 Career Mentoring Day in November.  Jeanine LeMaster seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved by voice vote.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
