Members Present:   Phil Anderson, Mike Chisley, Fred Cox, Charles Payne, Ben Robinson, Keith Robinson, Sue Taylor, Laura Waldron, Allen Williams and Connie Winfrey.

Guest:  Anthony Head.

Call to Order:

Ben stated that there was a lack of a quorum and no official business would be conducted. Sue questioned who the non-voting members were because except for Allen, Laura and herself, all others have been voting in this board's meetings.

The following was discussed as a committee:

Ben remarked that tuition and room and board rates are often an issue for students. He suggested that board members donate $5 a week for 10 years into a scholarship fund such as the Harry Watkins Scholarship, in order to improve access to the university and help a student's overall experience. Phil requested a list of minority scholarships. Some are listed at www.bsu.edu/outreach .

Constitution

After concerns were raised and discussion ensued regarding the Constitution, the board determined that revisions need to be investigated and considered.  A committee was formed to examine the Constitution and make a report for potential changes at   the next meeting.  Fred, Keith, Ben, Phil, Jenell (per Connie's nomination) and Sue will serve on the committee. Anthony will serve as a consultant to the committee.

Regional Outing

Ben suggested to the board that the VP's should organize a regional outing in their area. Fred suggested that they try one area per year. Sue suggested trying an event in Indianapolis first due to the number of alumni within a 60 mile radius. Al pointed out that the board could piggyback an event in the South Bend area with the Michiana Alumni Club in order to maximize everyone's resources. Anthony agreed and noted that coupling with Admissions at Expo was and would continue to be successful. He suggested hospitality suites at big events in order to draw alumni together.

Historian

Mike suggested that the organization might need a historian. It was suggested that Fred might serve as a great historian given that he has kept all of his information since the board's inception and given his history with the board.
