Board of Directors Meeting

Members Present: Tom Andrews, Chris Bias, Jason Blythe, Julie Bradshaw, Bob Browning, Brenda Cox, Chad Ellis, Mark Hess, Dick Isenhour, Ernie Krug, Russ Lawrence, Steph Meyers, Deb Petro, Kara Traut and John Waite.

Golf and Dinner Outing – Sixty-seven alumni and friends attended the outing.  Campus guests Brady Hoke and Ronny Thompson attended the event and spoke at the dinner.  Bob Browning will continue as chair and we will to return to Pebble Brook next year on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. 

Accountants' CPE Seminar – Kevin Ervin reported there were 15 in attendance at the Seminar.  2008 is the final year in a three year cycle for accounting credits which should lead to increased attendance.  Kevin agreed to chair the outing in 2008.

Indians Picnic and Baseball Outing – John Waite reported a record 161 alumni and friends attended.  John recommended we continue the outing in 2008 and look for a Saturday game in early June with post game fireworks.  John and Tom Nowak will co-chair the outing.

Cocktail Tasting – Steph Meyers chaired the event at the Rathskeller on Thursday, July 26.  Attendance increased over last year's event.  We will continue the outing with Steph as chair as part of the 2008 summer outings.

Symphony on the Prairie Outing – Outing chair Julie Bradshaw reported the pre-concert reception went well with perfect weather this year.  Roy Weaver, Dean of Teachers College, and members of the Teachers College Alumni board of directors participated.  Julie agreed to continue as Symphony outing chair.

Hoosier Park – Jason Blythe reported that moving the event to a Saturday evening increased attendance.  Our event was moved to a Hoosier Park suite complete with buffet, bar, betting window and a great view of the track.  Jason agreed to chair the outing again next year.

Indiana Ice – Tom Andrews has finalized plans for the Saturday, January 12, 2008 Indiana Ice vs. Waterloo Black Hawks outing at the Pepsi Coliseum.  The pre-event activity will be in the VIP room this year.  The pre-game begins at 6:00 p.m. and the game begins at 7:05 p.m.

Casino Night – Russ Lawrence reported the Grove Shack  at Jillian's has been remodeled and is no long appropriate for our event.  Russ will meet with event staff at Jillian's to see if another room might meet our needs.   Our first choice of dates is Saturday, February 9, with registration beginning at 5:00 p.m., gambling from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the prize drawing at 8:15 p.m.  Board members are asked to gather prizes for the drawing again this year.

Theatre Outing – Brenda Cox has finalized plans for a theatre outing, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2008 at the Indiana Reparatory Theatre.  The show is August Wilson's Piano Lesson.

Board Positions – Chris Bias, Julie Bradshaw, Chad Ellis, Russ Lawrence, Steph Meyers, Tom Nowak, Deb Petro, Mike Shumaker, and Kara Traut have agreed to new two-year terms. 

Board Elections – Brenda Cox was elected president and Russ Lawrence was chosen vice president.

Next Board Meeting – The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.  The location will be announced.
