CAP Meeting Minutes, September 18, 2004
Members Present  Joe Bilello, Diana Brenner, Jon Coddington, Michelle Harrell, Michael Hollibaugh, Dean Illingworth, Greg Jacoby, Teresa Jeter-Newburn, Tina Jones, Ernie Krug, Deb Kunce, Jamie Lake, Chris Lehnertz, Jennifer Milliken, Pat Quinn, Doug Reddington, Ron Taylor, and Dan Woodfin. President Teresa Jeter-Newburn called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

Minutes
After a brief review of the August 25, 2004 minutes, Doug Reddington made a motion to accept the minutes, Deb Kunce seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by voice vote.

CAP Update
Joe Bilello informed the board that Charles Sappenfield was in the hospital and unable to attend the Alumni Day dinner.  Sappenfield faxed a message for the Sappenfield Award winners.

New architecture department chair, Jon Coddington, was introduced.

Bilello presented a brief overview of the college's stragic plan, and a copy of the annual report was circulated during the meeting.

Bilello will bring a budget for the anniversary to the next meeting which will show ranges for budget items.  He will also provide more information about the proposed banner for the exterior of the building.

Development
Chris Lehnertz gave the board highlights on how the Office of University Development can assist CAP.  They include:

  1. Develop a top-100 donors list to begin a calling campaign.
  2. Attend dean dinners quarterly across the state.
  3. Engage faculty with donation calls.
  4. Look for alumni donor participation in honor of the 40th anniversary.
  5. Seek for corporate sponsorship.
  6. E-mail accounts for alumni.


Alumni Council Report
Ernie Krug gave a brief report on the Alumni Council meeting in June:

  1. Distinguished Alumni, Benny and Legacy award recipients were named.
  2. Tom DeWeese explained the recent selection process for the university's new president.


Krug mentioned that the Alumni Association is trying to get groups like CAP to partner with other groups on geographic events.

Alumni Involvement
Diana Brenner will design a form for requesting a parking pass for CAP visitors.  This form will be used as a way to track alumni participation.

Jennifer Milliken will develop a survey for the Alumni Association to send out via e-mail to gather alumni participation information.

Doug Reddington suggested inviting graduating students this year to the Alumni Day 2005 dinner.

Teresa Jeter-Newburn volunteered to look into corporate sponsorships.  She suggested giving graduating students a survey to see what it takes to get them involved as alumni.

Other Business
Second Vice President Election

Jamie Lake nominated Dean Illingworth.  Doug Reddington seconded the motion, and the motion was approved by voice vote.

Other officers are Jamie Lake, president; and Jennifer Milliken, first vice president.

Student Technology Needs
In the next eCAP there will be a call for donations of old computer equipment to be donated to student organizations.

Nominations
Tina Jones will write the text for a mailer seeking nominations.  The board agreed to cancel the 40 in 40 theme.

Next Meeting
The next two meetings will be at the Indy CAP Center at noon on October 21 and November 18.
