Minutes
After a brief review of the June 23, 2004 minutes, Tina Jones made a motion to accept the corrected minutes, Diana Brenner seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
Exhibitions
Tina Jones reviewed suggested options presented at the June 23, 2004 meeting regarding the theme of the 40th anniversary celebration, the format used for submittals for exhibits and presentations, and a proposed initiative to name "40 in 40" for alumni who have made major contributions in the past 40 years.
Debra Kunce made a motion to use a jpeg format for exhibit and presentation submissions, Dean Illingsworth seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.
Jones volunteered to write the text for eCAP requesting all alumni to submit a "digital board" for public display during the 40th anniversary celebration.
Criteria for the Board:
- Square format, jpeg
- 200 dpi resolution
- Minimum requirements:
- Name, address, dates associated with CAP
- Tell what CAP has meant to the alumnus
- Tell how the alumnus has contributed to CAP's legacy using graphics and/or text
Criteria for the jpeg:
- Year of graduation and degree received
- Photos of projects, plans, sketches, project teams
- News clipping collage, office brochure
- Awards, family photos, alumnus photo
Projects can also be converted to digital for alumni submitting an actual 12" x 12" board.
Greg Jacoby made a motion to have the jpeg submissions due December 1, 2004 with exhibits beginning in January 2005. Dean Illingsworth seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote. Digital boards will begin to be displayed on the CAP Website as they are received.
40 in 40 Project
As a component of the Anniversary celebration, Jones proposed that 40 individuals be identified as the primary building blocks of the past 40 year CAP legacy. Discussion followed. Tina Jones volunteered to write the text for the next issue of Re:CAP requesting alumni to nominate other alumni for this honor. The dean and department chairs will also be asked make their nominations.
Jennifer Milliken made a motion to invite alumni to submit jpegs of their projects so that they may be considered for the 40 in 40 group. Jamie Lake seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.
Diana Brenner made a motion to have the past alumni award winners' projects displayed at the September 2004 Alumni Awards Dinner. Debra Kunce seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.
Greg Jacoby made a motion to have the 40 in 40 selection committee include six faculty members (two from each department) and three alumni (one from each department). Tina Jones seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.
Greg Jacoby made a motion to have the chair of each department select two faculty members from each department and the CAP Alumni Board select three alumni to serve on the 40 in 40 selection committee, Tina Jones seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.
Greg Jacoby suggested three methods for obtaining nominations:
- Jpegs: All Who Submit a Digital Board
- Open Call: Write-in Nominations
- Past Alumni Awards: All Nominees and Winners
Theme for Anniversary Celebration
Greg Jacoby made a motion to have the theme for the 40th anniversary celebration be "Building a Legacy, the First 40 Years". Jamie Lake seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.

Other Business
Tina Jones Distributed a proposed plan for the CAP Mentor Program. Following a discussion, Debra Kunce made a motion to continue planning the program to be implemented beginning in September 2005. Jennifer Milliken seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote. The program will be promoted at lunch or dinner during the 2004 Alumni Day, September 18.
