President Jamie Lake called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.
Minutes
After a brief review of the October 21, 2004 minutes, Doug Reddington made a motion to accept, Dan Woodfin seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
Terms and Appointments
Jamie Lake thanked Doug Reddington for his work on the board and for serving as a good role model for him.
Karen Courtney has accepted her appointment to the CAP Alumni Board. She will fill the seat left vacant by Doug.
Greg Jacoby, Teresa Jeter-Newburn, Tina Jones and Ron Taylor have accepted reappointments for 2005–07.
2005 CAP Alumni Day Issues
Ernie Krug announced that the home football dates would not be available until some time between March and May, 2005. CAP Alumni Day will be Friday, September 30, 2005.
Lake gave Pat Quinn appreciation letters to send to the professors who participated during 2004 CAP Alumni Day.
Jennifer Milliken's survey will be in Recap and is online at www.bsu.edu/cap/alumnisurvey.
Lake reminded the board that Milliken will head the committee for the Alumni Awards, Dean Illingworth will head the committee for the Sappenfield Award and he will prepare a checklist of items to assist each committee.
Quinn announced that more alumni nominations were needed in the request for awards pool. Nominations come from the Alumni Board. She also suggested the nominations should be more forceful and should go out now to give people time to respond. She also recommended reworking the letter calling for nominations so that the significance of the 40-year anniversary can be stressed. Lake will look at the letter and make suggestions. He suggested that future presidents do the same.
The Alumni Association can put the revised letter in the Cardinal's Nest to help get call for nominations out to alumni.
Ernie Krug will bring a list with alumni names, college and class year to help with selecting award nominees.
Greg Jacoby asked Krug if he would provide the name of the company who makes the Alumni Center's lapel pins for the next meeting.
Committee Updates
The logo for t-shirts can be a student project. The t-shirts would be a colored shirt with two-color print. Profit from the t-shirt sales will be used to help fund the students' dinners at the 2005 CAP Alumni Day. Greg Jacoby proposed having the contest in Spring 2005 and the sale in Fall 2005. Michel Mounayar said he and Dean Bilello would present the idea to the student council. He also mentioned that the contest would be announced at the December 10, 2004 holiday party.
Lake will draft the program for the contest and send it out to board members by e-mail for suggestions. It will be due back to Michel Mounayar by the next student council meeting.
Jacoby moved to have a $100 prize for the contest. Doug Reddington seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote. Payment for the prize to be paid from the Governing Board's financial resources, or from financing of the college. The first moneys generated can repay this item back towards the costs of the celebratory events.
