Professional groups schedule events
CAP: The CAP Alumni Society Governing Board has selected recipients for its 2003 alumni awards. The awards will be presented at a banquet culminating CAP Alumni Weekend, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 19-20 on campus.
Carol JH Yetken, '78, has been selected for the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Yetken is founder and principal of Carol JH Yetken Landscape Architects in, Oak Park, IL.
Outstanding Achievement awards will be given to Nolan Bingham, '76; Thomas Doolittle, '83; and Kevin Russell, '97. Bingham is principal partner at The Paris/Bingham Partnership in Columbus. Doolittle is principal at Carol R. Johnson Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, MA. Russell is project manager at Synthesis Inc. in Indianapolis. Seal is principal at Green Development Services, at the Rocky Mountain Institute in Snowmass, CO.
Two CAP alumni have been inducted into the College of Fellows of their respective professional organizations. They are Daniel Bird, '68, owner of Miamisburg Mound CIC in Kettering, OH, and Roger Neuenschwander, '73, president of Thompson Ventulett and Stainback in Atlanta, GA.
COB: The College of Business Alumni board will host Dialogue Week for alumni and students from Monday through Friday, October 27-31. Alumni who wish to share their professional experience may contact the Alumni Association.
COFA: The College of Fine Arts Alumni board is hosting its third annual Indy Art Walk along Massachusetts Avenue in Indianapolis, Thursday, September 4. College of Architecture alumni will partner with COFA for the event. All alumni are invited.
FCS: Family and Consumer Sciences alumni are invited to attend the department's sixth annual Career Mentoring Day, Thursday, November 20, at the Alumni Center. An FCS board meeting will follow.
Journalism: Ninety-five alumni and friends of the Department of Journalism returned to campus June 21 for a student media staff reunion. In addition to dinner and a DJ, participants toured the Art and Journalism building, matched wits on journalism and Ball State history, and made connections with other former staff members.
The Journalism Alumni board met in the morning. The group will host an event in Chicago, Saturday, August 9, which will include a boat excursion in addition to a reception and tour of the Chicago Tribune. Details will be sent to Chicago-area alumni.
NREM: Natural Resources and Environmental Management alumni are co-sponsoring the annual fall Career Day in the NREM department, Wednesday, November 12. Alumni who wish to speak about their profession to students should contact department chairman Hugh Brown.

Greater Indianapolis: A Symphony on the Prairie Outing is on the bill at Conner Prairie for Saturday, July 26. Sunday, August 10, will be the annual Indianapolis Indians Picnic and Baseball Outing at Victory Field. Chairman for the event is John Waite, '87.
Also, Sunday, September 7, area alumni are invited to enjoy harness racing at Hoosier Park in Anderson. Chairman for the event is Steph Meyers, '91MA92.
Michiana: A bus shopping trip to Woodfield Mall is scheduled for Saturday, November 15. Event chairman is Jenn Crist, '90.
Northeastern Indiana: The group will host a picnic and baseball outing with the Fort Wayne Wizards at Memorial Stadium in Fort Wayne, Thursday, July 3. Mike McMillen, '67, is chairman for the event.
The annual Three Rivers Festival Parade will be Saturday, July 12. John Martin, '90, is chairman for Ball State's unit, which will include Charlie Cardinal and the Cheerleaders.
CART scholarship recipients announced
The Alumni Association has awarded Cardinal Alumni Recruitment Team (CART) scholarships for the 2003-04 academic year. The scholarship was established in 1999 by the Alumni Council to assist efforts in recruiting quality students to attend Ball State.
The award is open to any admitted and entering full-time freshman.

POST-ITS
Black Alumni: Reservations are being accepted for the Black Alumni reunion, Friday through Sunday, August 1-3, on campus. Friday's events will feature a luncheon for all alumni, reunions of all Black Greek organizations and one for independents, and a fun-filled evening reception and Casino.
Saturday morning sessions will feature Rob Tyler, financial planner, and owner of Tyler Financial, and Katherine Beals, associate professor of Family and Consumer Sciences. They will speak on financial planning and nutrition and fitness.
Career Fairs: About 475 students attended the annual Teacher Fair, April 30 and May 1 on campus. Career Information Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17 at Worthen Arena.
Employers and graduate school representatives will be on campus to discuss employment, internships, and graduate programs with Ball State students.
Delta Sigma Theta: The Delta Sigma Theta 50th anniversary celebration will be Friday through Sunday, September 12-14, at the Alumni Center. A reception with dancing and games will occur on Friday. Saturday will feature lunch, a group photo, and campus tour, followed by dinner and awards that evening.
The weekend will conclude with a group breakfast on Sunday. Brochures with more information will be mailed.
Women's Softball: Alumni are invited to a reunion on Friday and Saturday October 17-18 on campus. An alumni game will be played on Friday, and Saturday will include a tailgate party, football game, and post-game party. Details will be mailed.
Men's Swimming: Team alumni from 1967-72 will have a reunion with Coach Charles Guemple, '49MA60, at Homecoming, Saturday, October 18. Reservation information will be mailed.
Women's Swimming and Diving: Teams from the past 25 years are meeting Saturday, October 11 at the Alumni Center. Beth Scott, '97, is coordinating the event with the BSUAA. Reservation information will be mailed.
Men's Tennis: Team alumni will convene for their annual reunion Saturday, September 20 at the Alumni Center. Reservation information will be mailed.
University Singers: Alumni are invited to a reunion and the 2004 Spectacular to celebrate the University Singers' 40th anniversary, Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, 2004.
