Malik Perry, Melvin Goins and Rashaun McLemore each scored 12 points, but the Crusaders used eight second-half three-pointers to prevent a BSU rally.

The loss drops BSU to 0-6 overall, while Valpo improved to 6-1.

"We need intensity and focus on defense," said first-year head coach Billy Taylor.  "Hopefully this team is learning that at this level you can't ever relax on defense."
