STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Freshman Brittany Kelly posted rounds of 78 and 74 Sunday afternoon as the Ball State women's golf team is in sixth place at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Princeton leads the 14-team event after 36 holes, while Maryland is second overall.  The final 18 holes are slated for Monday.

Ball State, which opened Sunday's action with a team score of 323, lowered the mark by seven strokes in the afternoon for a 316.  Kelly's round of 74 was low for the Cardinals, allowing her to tie for sixth overall and just one stroke from third place.

"The course played really long, but the weather conditions were very nice," said BSU head coach Katherine Mowat.  "The rough is very challenging and can cost you strokes.  Brittany played great and as a team, it was good to improve in the second round.  We're hoping to improve again tomorrow."
