Bob Browning

Bob Browning received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Accounting in 1975.  He is currently a shareholder and co-founder of Peters, Browning & Co., P.C.  Peters, Browning & Co. was founded in 1994 and serves as a CPA practice providing business consulting, tax planning and preparation, financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, and various additional business and personal financial planning services. 

Prior to Bob's present position, he had been employed with Greenwalt Sponsel & Co., Inc. for eight years and was admitted as a shareholder in 1992.  He also served as a manager at Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young, LLP) from 1979 to 1986, was a senior auditor at Indiana National Bank (now Bank One) from 1976 to 1979, and was a corporate accountant at American States Insurance Co. for one year after graduation from Ball State.

Bob's professional designations include being a Certified Public accountant/Personal Financial Specialist, Certified Internal Auditor (inactive), Certified Financial Planner, Accredited Wealth Management Advisor and a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Accounting, passed Series 7 & 63 Securities Examination, and passed the Indiana State Insurance Examination.

His memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Indiana CPA Society where he served as Chair of the Personal Financial Planning Committee in 1992 and has been the Chair of the Management of Accounting Practice Advisory Board for the past two years, the Financial Planning Association, and the American College of Forensic Examiners.

Bob has given much of his time and talents to Ball State University by serving on the Wings for the Future National Campaign Committee, the Alumni Center National Steering Committee, the National Development Council, was chairman of the Class of 1975 25-year Gift Committee, and is a member of the Fellows Society.

He has also been on the Executive Committee for the BSU Alumni Association from 1991 to 1998 and served as Alumni Council President in 1997 as well as serving on many varied committees for the Alumni Council.  Bob also is a member of the Board of Directors for the Ball State University Foundation serving on the Audit Committee (Chair 1994-1997), the Operations Committee (Chair 2000-2002), the Investment Committee, the Committee on Directors, and the Planned Giving Committees.

Additional volunteer opportunities that Bob has been a part of include Rotary International where he has served as Secretary of the Greenwood White River Club since its formation in 2003 and will become President-Elect in July 2007.  He has been named Club Secretary of the Year twice by Rotary District 6580 (2003-2004 and 2004-2005).  At the District lever, he is serving his second term as Chair of the District Simplified Grants Committee of the Rotary Foundation and was named Foundation Committee Chair of the Year for 2005-2006.  He has also held positions with the Center Grove High School Choir Parents Organization, United Way of Central Indiana, St. Barnabas Catholic Church, and the Center Grove Lassie League.

Bob has previously been the recipient of the Benny Award given by the Ball State University Alumni Association in 1999 and the Miller College of Business Award of Achievement in 2001.

Bob's wife, Jeannine, is a teacher at Center Grove Elementary School in Greenwood.  They have two daughters, Lisa and Abbey, both BSU Honor College graduates.
