Carie Tagorda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Education from Ball State University in 1998 and is finishing a Master of Science degree in Instructional Systems Technology at the University of North Texas.  She is currently the Project Manager in Training and Development at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

After graduation, Carie moved to Dallas and taught a course called Career Investigations at Spence Middle School in the Dallas Independent School District.  She then moved on to teach Marketing Education at the Academy of Irving in Irving, Texas.  At the Academy she was part of a team of teachers who opened a new high school for the district that emphasized careers and technology education, and each student had a laptop computer.  There she was one of two teachers to start the Academy student internship program.

While a student at Ball State, Carie was a Resident Assistant, was on the Resident Hall Council, and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.  When asked about her time at BSU, Carie says, "I love Ball State.  I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my experiences as an undergraduate student.  I feel the education department did an excellent job of preparing me for teaching and the business department gave me a great background in the fundamentals of business."

Carie and her husband, Maynard, have a busy life that includes her stepsons ages 12 and 9, and their daughter, Melissa, who is 10 months old. Since she and her family live in Texas, Carie doesn't get back to campus as often as she would like.  The last time she was able to visit was in 2000, but she says, "I am really looking forward to coming back and seeing all the new buildings and landscaping soon."
