INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Ball State track and field team competed in the Stan Lyons Invitational.  Nearly 1,000 competitors gathered at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Field Stadium for the event.

The meet featured multiple Indiana schools including Butler, Indiana, Indiana State and the University of Indianapolis.  Other schools involved were Bellarmine, Bradley, Xavier, Wright State, Eastern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Northwestern, and Dayton.

The Stan Lyons Invitational is named for Coach Stan Lyons, the long-time Butler track and cross country mentor who was also the 1958 NCAA Champion in the pole vault while competing at Ohio State.

Although the invitational was a non-scoring meet, many Ball State competitors recorded their fastest times of the season in their respective events.
