Professor and author Edward Castronova will discuss "Building a Synthetic World: Indiana's Arden" during a 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17 lecture in the Fine Arts Building, Arts Recital Hall.
Castronova will overview "Arden: The World of William Shakespeare," a video game being produced at Indiana University, where he is an associate professor and director of graduate studies in the telecommunications department. He also is the author of "Synthetic Worlds: The Business and Culture of Online Games."
His speech also will include information about how to make a big video game, why a university would want to create one and jobs being offered in the field.
The College of Communication, Information, and Media, the computer science department and the Center for Media Design are assisting in the presentation.
The program is free and open to the public.
