Cardinal Career Link Now Available to Ball State Alumni (9/1/2006)
The Career Center recently revised its online career-management and job-search tool.  Cardinal Career Link, an enhanced job-search and recruiting system is now available to all alumni, replacing the former Cardinal ViewJobs.    According to Larry Beck, associate director of the Career Center, "Cardinal Career Link is a vast improvement over the former Cardinal ViewJobs system with its access to thousands of job vacancies through the national NACElink Network provided by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)."

Cardinal Career Link allows candidates to manage all aspects of their career-planning and job-search activities from storing résumés and job search documents to registering for Career Center events online, communicating with employers, participating in résumé books, and receiving updates on important career-planning topics.

The NACElink Network is a partnership with NACE, DirectEmployers (an Indianapolis-based employer consortium,) and Symplicity Corp.  The network links more than 600 colleges and universities across the country.  Other partnering colleges in Indiana are Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame.

Cardinal Career Link offers employers many online services not previously available.  Employers can register for on-campus job fairs through the system, access résumé books of participating candidates, manage their recruiting calendars, and communicate with candidates before on-campus interviewing visits or career fairs.  Both alumni and employers can complete online job reports when candidates are hired.

An added benefit for alumni is the NACElink Network Alumni Jobs feature provided by DirectEmployers, a nationwide database with hundreds of thousands of job openings across the country and internationally targeted to individuals with work experience.

The new service is free but a username and password are required.   The system is password protected to ensure that employment opportunities for Ball State candidates are only accessed by BSU students and alumni.

Recent alumni can use their Ball State Outlook e-mail addresses to gain initial access to the system and set-up their profiles.  Alumni without BSU Outlook e-mail addresses can call the Career Center to receive log-in assistance.  Cardinal Career Link is available through the Cardinal Career Portal on the Career Center's Web site at  http://www.bsu.edu/students/careers/students/viewjobs/.

Current students will continue to use Cardinal ViewJobs to find on-campus student jobs, on-campus internships, and graduate assistantships.  Cardinal ViewJobs is available without a username or password and is also accessible on the Career Center's Cardinal Career Portal Web page.

The Career Center will e-mail tips on how to use Cardinal Career Link and other information throughout the year to registered alumni.    Alumni who are employers can contact the Career Center at 765-285-1522 to learn more about how to use Cardinal Career Link to connect with Ball State students or alumni.
