1950's Lawrence L. Buell, '56, Indianapolis, was recently honored with Ball State's President's Medal of Distinction. He is chairman of the budget committee for the  Indiana General Assembly.

V. Sue (Blodgett) Shields, '59, Noblesville, received a 2006 Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Indiana University. She was the first woman to be elected judge of a general jurisdiction trial court in Indiana, jurisdiction trial court in Indiana, the first female judge in the Indiana Court of Appeals, and the first female U.S. magistrate judge in Indiana.


1960's

Larry J. Bailey, '63MA64, has authored his seventh book entitled Working 4E. He and his wife, Jacquelyn (Nye) Bailey, '64, recently retired from Southern Illinois University. They reside in Kirkwood, MO.

Meredith Rupe, '63, Boyne Falls, MI, has retired as pastor of Trinity United  Methodist Church in Iron Mountain, MI.

Carol S. Calloway, '65MA67, Rochester, has retired after teaching English at Rochester High School for 38 years.

Barbara A. (Butts) Savage, '67MAE81, Peru, has retired from the Wabash  County Metropolitan School District after 30 years as a special education teacher.

William H. Fulton, '69, Devon, PA, retired from the Chester County Planning  Commission as executive director. His career spanned 35 years.


1970's

Benjamin M. Russell, III, '70, Fishers, recently retired from Pearson Education as supervisor of quality control. He previously worked with the Federal Bureau of  Investigation.

Cheryl A. (Heck) Goodin, '71, Greenfield, has retired from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis aft er 35 years of teaching.

Teresa A. Mahin, '71, Indianapolis, was selected as the Indiana PTA State  Teacher of the Year. She is business department chairman at Southport High School.

David S. Moorman, '71, Sinking Springs, PA, has been promoted to president of  personal lines at Harleysville Insurance.

Marianne (Welty) Berlin, '72MA74, Avon, received a 2006 Teacher Creativity  Fellowship Grant from the Lilly Endowment.

Jack E. Brown, '72, Pineville, LA, has retired as U.S. Army chaplain. He recently  published a book, A Chaplain Remembers Vietnam.

Dennis K. Young, '72, Port Orange, FL, is general manager of Nautilus Inn,  Daytona Beach, FL.

James L. Crider, MA73, Cataumet, MA, recently received the Academic Award for Excellence from Defiance College, OH.

Wayne Leonard, '73LLD04, New Orleans, LA, is CEO of Entergy. He and the  company were recently honored for their efficient response during the Hurricane  Katrina crisis.

Sandra D. (Hall) Parker, '73, Indianapolis, has retired from Ben Davis High  School after 33 years in education. She is a former member of the Ball State Black Alumni Society board of directors.

Randall A. Condra, '74, Columbus, OH, is a watercolor artist.

Valentina C. Peguero-Lawlor, MAE74, Stevens Point, WI, professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, has received the University Scholar Award.

Kenneth W. Reed, '74MAE78, and his wife, Cynthia K. (Lewis) Reed,  '78MA90, Muncie, own an online travel business. The couple also recently became  certified fundraising professionals.

Cynthia Sharp Myers, '76, Haddon Heights, NJ, an estate planning and elder law  attorney with the Sharp Law Firm, has received the Kaleidoscope Award from the  Alzheimer's Association,  Greater Delaware Valley Chapter.

Jane J. (Johnson) Tuttle, '77, Lawrence, KS, has been elected chairman of the  board of the La Leche League International.

Christopher P. LaMothe, '78, Indianapolis, is CEO and chairman of the board for Sherry Laboratories. He is a former member of the Ball State Miller College of Business Alumni Society board of directors and a recipient of the Miller College of Business Award of Achievement.

Kevin G. Nemyer, '78MBA92, Albany, has retired from a career with UPS.  Nemyer now works as purchaser at Rivar's Custom Show Apparel.

Michael D. Hall, '79MA83, Laredo, TX, has been named 2006 Journalist of the  Year by the San Antonio District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Kevin A. Marti, '79, Bloomington, IL, has been appointed senior vice president and division officer for Erie Insurance Group.


1980's

Alan E. Updike, '80, Overland Park, KS, has been promoted to business development manager with the national security program office for Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies, LLC.

Tracey J. (Denton) Murray, '81, Fort Wayne, is owner of Jude Vocal Works and has published Mr. Topaz Takes a Walk.

Scott B. Saxman, '81, Silver Springs, MD, is director for the office of medical services for the Peace Corps in Washington, DC.

Robin S. McBride, '82, Monahans, TX, is a senior criminal investigator with the United States Marshals Service.

Timothy A. Green, '83, Antioch, CA, is deputy assistant chief of staff in the United States Marine Corps. A colonel, he is currently deployed to Iraq.

Brian K. Jensen, '83MA87, Pittsburgh, PA, has been promoted to senior vice president, government structure program, for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.

Bradley V. Balch, '84MA85, Cunnington, has been named dean of the college of  education at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

Susan J. (Perry) Emberton, '84MA88, Las Vegas, NV, a special education  teacher at Cimarron-Memorial High School, has been honored for excellence in education.

Gregory B. Muirhead, '84BLA84, Verona, NJ, has been elected president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. He works for Rees Jones  Incorporated.

Donald C. Rhynard, '84, New York, NY, was principle saxophonist for a series of concerts with the Naples, FL Philharmonic Orchestra.

Martha J. (Batcho) Constantine, '86, Indianapolis, a teacher at Thomas D.  Gregg School 15, has been selected as the 2006 Indianapolis Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Aaron N. Cutshall, '86, Muncie, is a business systems analyst with Indiana Health  Information Exchange.

David W. Langham, '86, Gulf Breeze, FL, has been appointed deputy chief judge  of compensation claims in the State of Florida.

Jeffrey L. Maxwell, '86, Bradenton, FL, is a senior pension plan consultant for KB Pension Services Incorporated in Sarasota, FL. He recently received designation as a qualified 401k administrator from the American Society of Pension Plan Actuaries.

Gloria A. Palmes, MA86, South Cotabato, Philippines, has been promoted to  secondary school principal-1. She has also been designated as the division values education coordinator of South Cotabato.


1990's

Cecil N. Franke, '90, Dublin, won the annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon in  May. He coaches cross country at Centerville High School.

Michael F. Potts, '90, Tempe, AZ, has been promoted to customer service and fitting specialist at Ping Golf in Phoenix, AZ.

Markita K. (Yarling) Weaver, '90, Shelbyville, obtained her master's degree in  May from the University of Southern Indiana.

Melisa J. (Ellis) Beeson, '91MA98, Muncie, is an instructor and work experience program coordinator for Ball State's Department of Industry and Technology.

Michael L. Hall, '91, Chicago, IL, a professional viola soloist, recently performed  the New York premiere of Marta Ptazynska's Elegia: In Memoriam John Paul II. He is also visiting assistant professor at Illinois Wesleyan University in  Bloomington, IL and an instructor at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. His wife, Kristine Kohler-Hall, '91, is a first-grade teacher at Woodlawn Elementary  School in Chicago.

Holly D. Huffman, '91MA99, Indianapolis, is communications specialist for the  Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives.

Janet L. (Mitchell) Meek, '91, Fort Wayne, is child and family program director  for Phoenix Institute, a licensed child placing agency. She was recently named one of the future 40 leaders under the age of 40 by the Fort Wayne Business Journal.

Shane C. Mulholland, '91MA92, Fort Wayne, is a partner in the law firm of Burt,  Blee, Dixon, Sutton and Bloom, LLP.

Richard Stanislaw, Jr., MA91, North Canton, OH, has launched a video podcast  show, The General Cabbage Report.

Allyson N. (Hitchcock) Martin, '92MA98, Fishers, owns Strollerfit—Exercise  with Your Baby, in Carmel.

Michael T. Mucha, '92, Fishers, is central Indiana territory manager with Shaw Industries.

Darcy L. (Wilkinson) Keith, '93, Fishers, commercial insurance underwriter for  State Auto Insurance and a professional inspirational speaker, has been selected as  the 2006 National ThinkFirst VIP Speaker of the Year. She is a former recipient of the Ball State Alumni GOLD Award.

Joshua A. Dobbs, '94, Muncie, and Matthew M. Wright, '96MS03, Fishers,  staff sergeants with the Indiana National Guard, recently returned from serving in Ramadi, Iraq. Josh is a Ball State instructor in the school of physical education,  sport, and exercise science. Matt is a sales representative for Stiefel Pharmaceuticals in Indianapolis.

Linda V. (Wilkes) Horn, '95MAE03, Anderson, received an A-plus Teacher  award this spring. She teaches at Marie-Thurston Elementary School.

Jerti (Rauer) Reichanadter, '95, Fortville, features picture editor for The  Indianapolis Star, was elected president of the Indiana News Photographers  Association.

Daniel A. Ward, '95MA97, Indianapolis, received the 2006 Outstanding Alumnus  Award from Ball State's Disabled Student Services.

Jacey R. Frazier, '96MAE02, Muncie, is community and supportive services  coordinator for the Muncie Housing Authority's Hope VI project. In her role, she is responsible for the revitalization of individuals who once lived in Munsyanna Homes.

Amy E. Hendrix, '96, Pensacola, FL, has been promoted to lieutenant in the United States Navy. She is stationed at the naval Air Station/Pensacola, where  she is an aerospace physiologist.

Marci L. (Fleetwood) McCauley, '96, Louisville, KY, is vice president and  branch manager for Stock Yards Bank and Trust.

Heather L. (Fry) Perkins, '96, Crawfordsville, is an associate attorney with Collier, Homann & Siamas. Her husband, Thomas P. Perkins, '72, is assistant athletic director, equipment manager, and assistant baseball coach at Wabash College.

Ryan D. Snider, '96, Greensburg, serves as an SPC for the National Guard at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He will attend officers training in the fall.
