1950's William M. Stone, '54, Wheaton, IL, an associate professor in the School of  Education at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, IL, received the school's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.

Martha J. (Miller) Fitzgerald, '59, Cherokee Village, AR, has retired after 19  years as a senior soft ware engineer with Comverse, Incorporated, in New York,  NY.


1960's

Michaeline K. (Varso) Chance Reay, '65MA67, Manhattan, KS, has  commissioned a notecard series to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the college of education at Kansas State University where she is a faculty member.

Sheliah J. (Heavenridge) Dorton, '67MA75, Gaston, has been honored as a  Distinguished Member of the National Association of Teacher Educators.

Lonna B. McDaniel, '69, Stockton, CA, has retired from the Stockton Unified  School District after 36 years as a special education teacher and site administrator.

Patricia K. (Markey) Slama, '69, Carmel, achieved her 100th win last season as the girl's tennis coach at Zionsville High School.


1970's

Stephen R. Beights, '70, Naples, FL, an eighth-grade science teacher at Pine  Ridge Middle School, received the 2006 Golden Apple Award from the Education Foundation of Collier County.

Barbara L. (Raper) Davis, '70, Nashville, is a textile artist specializing in wall art.

Suellen F. (Kinder) Reed, MAE70EdD91LLD97, Rushville, superintendent of  public instruction for the State of Indiana, has received the 2006 John Vaughn Award of the North Central Association Commision on Accreditation and  School Improvement.

Gregory A. Schenkel, '70, Indianapolis, is vice president of corporate relations for Pacers Sports and Entertainment. A former Ball State Benny Award recipient  and Alumni Council member, he concluded his term on Ball State's Board of  Trustees in December 2005.

Jerry D. Autry, MA72, San Francisco, CA, retired as a colonel from the U.S.  Army after 29 years of service. He has authored General William C. Lee, Father of the American Airborne.

Gregory A. Hostetler, '72, Mims, FL, Astronaut High School girl's basketball  coach, has been inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Patricia E. (Cox) Szuch, '72MA82, Indianapolis, has been named chief executive  officer of Prevent Blindness Indiana.

Roger S. Miller, '73, Muncie, is president for STAR Financial Bank's private client group.

Dennis D. Hengstler, '74, Berkeley, CA, has been promoted to assistant vice  chancellor for planning and analysis at the University of California, Berkeley.

Carolyn A. (Speck) Cloud, '75, Indianapolis, recently earned certification as a  professional in human resources. She is a human resources specialist with Juno Lighting Group in Fishers.

Beverly J. Todd, '75MAE78, Howe, a teacher at Prairie Heights Elementary  School, is listed in the 2004-05 edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

Margaret A. (Woolever) Hollies, '76MA80, Carmel, received the No Child Left Behind 2005 American Star of Teaching Award. She is an eighth-grade language arts teacher at Carmel Middle School.

Cynthia Sharp Myers, '76, Haddon Heights, NJ, an attorney with The Sharp Law Firm, was a guest speaker at the recent Medicaid and Elder Law Issues Seminar in Mount Laurel, NJ.

Patrick K. Luzadder, '77, Carmel, has joined BSA LifeStructures, a firm based in Indianapolis.

David B. Moore, '79, Jesup, GA, has been promoted to global manager of credit  collections and sales forecasting for Rayonier Performance Fibers LLC.

Dipak J. Negandhi, '79, Brandon, MS, is a senior engineer for Unified Brands in Jackson, MS.

Lisa J. (Carroll) Slayton, '79, Simpsonville, SC, is vice president of human  resources for Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, SC.


1980's

Scott M. Lechner, '81, Fort Wayne, has been promoted to president of Flint &  Walling, Incorporated, in Kendallville.

Eugene G. White, EdS81EdD82, Indianapolis, superintendent of Indianapolis  Public Schools, received the 2006 John Vaughn Award of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. He is president of Ball State's Teachers College Alumni Society and a member of The Ball State  University Foundation board of directors.

Ray McCallum, '83, Norman, OK, has joined the Indiana University basketball  coaching staff as an assistant. As a player at Ball State, he became the MAC's all-time scoring leader. He was the Cardinals' head coach through seven consecutive winning seasons.

John J. Hulse, '84, Anderson, is the author of The Best and Worst Job I Ever Had (selected poems 1985-2005).

Jeffrey L. Mason, '84, Washington, has been promoted to senior vice president  with Integra Bank of Evansville.

Cathleen G. (Gast) Todd, '84, Acworth, GA, is executive assistant to Home Depot's executive vice president of merchandising and marketing in Atlanta, GA.

Lynda A. (Worden) Anderson, '86, Indianapolis, is a commercial interior designer with Blackburn Architects. A recipient of two national design awards, she also has been selected as the 2005 Premier A&D Partner of the Year Award from Milliken  Carpet.

Kelly (Baker) Kwolek, '86, Culpepper, VA, recently was part of a special  education delegation with People to People Ambassadors in Beijing, China.

Michael R. Bucy, '87, Valparaiso, has been promoted to assistant chief of fire operations for the city of Portage Fire Department.

Ruth A. (Morris) Johnston, '87, Valparaiso, an instructor at Valparaiso University, is pursuing her EdD at Loyola University in Chicago, IL.

Bradley D. Wilks, MA90, River Forest, IL, managing director and CEO of the  Chicago, IL, office of Citigate Sard Verbinnen, was recently elected to the board of directors for the National Investor Relations Institute. He is a former recipient of Ball State's Outstanding Journalism Alumnus Award.

Carla L. (Medler) Cox, '91, Noblesville, is an associate communications  consultant for Eli Lilly and Company.

Jeffrey A. Hester, '91, Scottsburg, has been named president of Scottsburg  Winnelson, a wholesale-distribution company.

Shannon L. (Tandy) Frank, '92, Indianapolis, has been promoted to director of  national sales for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.

Mark A. McCleese, '92, Indianapolis, has received the Thomas E. Gahl Goodwill Award from U.S. Federal Probation, Southern District/Indiana.

Jerry Fogarty, Jr., '93BS95, Wellington, FL, has been promoted to assistant  principal at Boynton Beach Community High School. He also is director for adult education.

Amanda G. (Fields) Thomas, '98, and Scott M. Thomas, '97, reside in Fishers. Amanda has been promoted to research scientist with Roche Diagnostics Corporation, and Scott has been promoted to director of new markets for Exacttarget.
