Five athletic teams scored perfect 1,000 in the NCAA Division 1 Academic  progress Rate (APR) released by the NCAA. Data is from the 2003-04 and the 2004-05 academic years and is based on a team's two-year average.

Men's golf, men's tennis, women's cross country, women's gymnastics, and women's volleyball each scored a perfect 1,000 for the two-year period. Ball State  had 16 of its 19 intercollegiate programs score 980 or better. All BSU teams were at, or above, the national average.
