Ball State Alumni Coach of the Year Award Winners Announced (5/1/2006)
The Alumni Association has announced five high school Coach of the Year awards for the winter 2005-06 season.  The award is presented to Indiana high school head coaches in all IHSAA-recognized sports.  Recipients are recommended and selected by colleagues throughout the state and Ball State athletics representatives. 2006 recipients include:

J. Agnew, ‘96, Yorktown High School, Girl's Swimming 
This is Coach Agnew's fourth consecutive year to receive this award. He led the Tigers to a regular season record of 10-0 and won the Hoosier Heritage Conference Championship. The team also had three individual High School State Champions and were State runner-ups.

J. Agnew, ‘96, Yorktown High School, Boy's Swimming 
The Tigers ended the season with a 9-0 dual meet record, won the Hoosier Heritage Conference Championship, and had a seventh place finish at the IHSAA State Championship.

Chris Huppenthal, ‘89, Hamilton Southeastern High School, Girl's Basketball 
This was Coach Huppenthal's first year coaching at Hamilton Southeastern. He led the Royals to a 22-4 season win-loss record, and conference, sectional, and regional championships.His 10-year career coaching record is an impressive 197-42.

Scott Schwarz, ‘88, East Central High School, Wrestling
Coach Schwarz directed the Trojans to a 18-7 season win-loss record, conference, sectional, and regional championships, and were semi-state/sweet sixteen participants. The team was ranked 20th in the state.  This is his 20th year as head coach at East Central High School with a career win-loss record of 315-105.

Craig Teagle, ‘86MA99, Jay County High School, Boy's Basketball
Coach Teagle led the Patriots to a 20-7 regular season win-loss record, and sectional, regional, and semi-state championships. The Patriots were the runner-ups in the Class 3A State Championship.  This marked the first regional and semi-state championship in school history for boy's basketball and the most wins in school history.
