
After graduating from Ball State, Denny remained on campus as the director of Wagoner Hall. Two years later he moved to the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, where he worked in student affairs. In 1974 he joined the Sentry Insurance management team and transferred to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1979. Later he became the Vice President and branch manager of Firemans Fund Insurance Company. Before taking his current position in management and human resources with Apex Media, a television media company in Scottsdale, he owned and operated his own human resource consulting firm called Human Resources Management Services.
Denny has been married for 39 years to Alice (Bergh) Nuckols who not only received her degree in english in 1969 from Ball State, but also served as Miss Ball State in 1966-67. Alice taught for several years and has been a family and marriage therapist for the past 16 years. Denny and Alice have a daughter who is a special education teacher in Texas, a son who is a firefighter/EMT in Scottsdale, and three grandchildren.
While at Ball State, Denny was a member of Sigma Chi, Student Government Association, Ball State Concert Choir, and was a founding member of University Singers. He was also very active in the residence hall program as a student staff member in both Elliot and Williams Halls.
Denny and Alice don't make it back to Ball State as often as they would like, but they did attend the University Singers 40th Reunion. Denny says, "We had a fantastic time meeting and talking with ‘old' friends that we hadn't seen in many years." Denny has fond memories of BSU starting with "marrying my college sweetheart having met through University Singers. Also, my participation in various clubs and organizations gave me a great foundation for managerial leadership position assignments, both corporately and within community organizations."
