Flags ordered to half-staff in honor of Rosa Parks (10/31/2005)
As a mark of respect, the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Indiana will be flown at half-staff at all government buildings Nov. 2 from dawn until dusk in honor of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks.

Parks died Oct. 24 at the age of 92. She was arrested in 1955 for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man, sparking a bus boycott that set off the civil rights movement.

The order to lower the flag can be found in a proclamation from President George W. Bush at www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/10/20051030-1.html.
