SENIOR CONGRATS PARTY! FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2008 FROM 4-7 P.M.
A sign-up sheet was passed around for the distribution of Senior Congrats tickets. They will be available for pick-up beginning April 14, but finals week is the busiest time. Please sign up to work the ticket table that week (you can bring materials to study during down-time!) Feel free to come in before that week to help – that will count towards your office hour! The sign-up sheet is in Kate's office if you need to sign up.
Decorations/Entertainment: Sally spoke with a lady from Big Smile Company in Toledo, OH. She suggested using a mariachi room background for photo opportunities, henna tattoos, and a keychain to pass out. The total cost of all three activities was in the $2,000 range. Kate will send Sally Joe Mann's contact information to inquire about the cost and availability of the Sumo Wrestling suits.
The decorations we ordered are in. We also received the stand-up photo board that we ordered and got a good deal on it. We still need to purchase local items (i.e. tablecloth rolls, balloons, etc.). If anyone has corn hole sets that we can use for the party, please let Kate know!
Allison and Tina will head-up the TIS window decorating, so if you are interested in helping what that, please contact one of them. The will decorate about a week before the party. We will also need volunteers to clean the window the evening of the party. We will also need copies of flyers brought over to all of the bookstores to hand out with caps and gowns.
Ali contacted Factory Card Outlet and got a price quote on Hot Tamales candy for the tables. Kate contacted the company to inquire about donating the candy. If we cannot get it donated, we will order through FCO.
Food/Drink: The group decided on ordering around 300-350 mini cupcakes for the party. We will get quotes from both Meijer and Walmart and go with the best price. Dill Street, Carter's Hot Dogs, Papa John's, and UBC are all confirmed, so we can just follow-up with everyone closer to the date of the party.
Publicity: We FINALLY decided on the t-shirt design! Seniors will have vintage cardinal red shirts and St.A.R.T. will have charcoal gray shirts. The senior t-shirts will have a vintage-wash print and will read "BALL STATE" down the front…and have Charlie Cardinal printed on the top back with the word "alumni" printed underneath between the shoulder blades. St.A.R.T. shirts will be the same, only with the word "St.A.R.T." instead of "alumni".
Ryan created a Facebook event – so please invite all of your friends who will graduate in May, July, or December of this year!
The koozies have been ordered and the table tents are all squared away. Thanks to Brian we received our sign for the fly-swatter from Pepsi! We still need to submit DN Days Ahead announcements for ticket pick-up and the party itself. An e-mail will be sent to students on April 14, and a reminder the week of the party. A big thanks to everyone who helped copy, stuff, and label the mailing – they are ready to go!
We will be using a hole-punch or marker to "verify" tickets at the event. We will also set up another registration table outside in the back to catch people coming in that way.
Sponsors/Set-Up: SPONSORS ARE DUE TODAY! Please turn your sponsors in if you have not done so already! This committee needs them in so they can complete thank you notes, etc. If they are not in by Friday, please bring Kate $10 to be used as cash prizes for the party.
A request was made for Charlie Cardinal to attend the event. If no one is available, Sally volunteered to dress up in the suit!
SPRING SURVIVAL KITS
Deadline for orders is Thursday, April 17. We have 62 orders so far. Spread the word! We will be shopping for contents at Sam's Club in Indianapolis on April 22. If you would like to see anything in particular included, please let Kate know! Erica is planning on submitting an order for one of her other student organizations – great idea! We will try to deliver all of the kits between April 23 – April 25, so everyone has their kit before finals begin. We will need everyone's help with deliveries!!
