BREAKFAST
We met in Meeting Room 1 for breakfast with the group!
SENIOR CONGRATS PARTY! FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2008 FROM 4-7 P.M.
We broke up into four sub-committee groups: decorations/entertainment, sponsors/set-up, food/drinks, and publicity. Each group met for about 10-15 minutes then gave reports on their discussion:
Publicity: Paul is planning on meeting with the t-shirt vendor soon. We decided to go with Outfitter for our t-shirts, since they offered us the best quote ($4 each for t-shirts with 2-color fronts and 2-color backs). We really need to come up with our final decisions on color and design ASAP! If anyone has any ideas for a tagline for the flyers, please let Kate know! (Brian's idea = Don't take a siesta, come to our fiesta!)
Decorations/Entertainment: Sally contacted UPB and they do not have any fiesta-themed decorations that we could use. Allison tried to contact the manager at TIS, but she is out of town and returning today. She will contact her soon to get permission to hand out flyers with caps & gowns and decorate the window. This group needs to get Kate a list of items to order ASAP – they discussed beads to hand out, cactus shot glasses, chili pepper confetti, and sombreros (Kate will try to find those big foam sombreros). The group also suggested getting a poncho and sombrero for people to wear in a photo.
Sponsors/Set-Up: This committee handed out the sponsor contracts. Everyone is required to get at least one sponsor for a prize donation. Emily made a list and assigned people to locations. Contact Kate if you do not know which place you were assigned to. The deadline for sponsors to be turned in is April 2!!! If you do not turn in a sponsor, you will be required to pay $10. Cassie contacted the Transportation office and verified that the shuttles will be running until 8 p.m. Ebony arranged all of the details for the tent, and Tyler requested a security officer through UPD.
Food/Drink: The group voted an prefers mini cupcakes over sheet cake (easier to serve and do not need fork/plate). The committee decided against the cotton candy machine since StART members would have to man it all evening. This group is going to contact Puerta's to see if they will donate chips and salsa. Erica mentioned they have donated to a diversity conference in the past. We will try to get regular margaritas and frozen margaritas for our pre-mixed beverages.
SPRING SURVIVAL KITS
Deadline for orders is Thursday, April 17. Joel offered to donate Monster energy drink again for all of the kits – THANKS, JOEL! We will be promoting these ASAP, so if you have any extra time, come into the office to help with the mailing, etc. If you have any neat ideas for contents, let Kate know!
