St.A.R.T. Meeting Minutes, August 29, 2007

Recap of last year/new ideas for this year (Senior Congrats, Survival Kits, etc.)
Senior Congrats: it was suggested we use soft serve ice cream vs. big rock hard tubs of ice cream or maybe Dip N Dots

Survival Kits: try using a Daily News ad to advertise the kits. Also, we should emphasize that our products are all brand-name in our publicity

Changes this year – bonus points, participation rules, etc.
New rules have been put in place in hopes to increase participation at our activities.  St.A.R.T. Bonus Points will be rewarded to those who volunteer their time to "help out" the alumni center with their events.  Points will be weighted depending on the time commitment, time to travel, etc. The St.A.R.T. member with the most points at the end of each month will be featured on our St.A.R.T. web site as the "St.A.R.T. member of the month" and the person with the most points at the end of the semester will receive a prize.

Recruitment
The application deadline is September 21. Interviews will be held September 24-25 in the Alumni Center. Interviews on the 24th will go from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will be held in Conference Room 3. Interviews on the 25th will go from 8 a.m. – 12:00 noon and will be held in Conference Room 1. PLEASE mark your calendars for these dates and times – we will need help with the interviews and participation will count towards bonus points!  The new member selection meeting will be held on September 26, and our first regular meeting with the new members will be October 3.  Spread the word to friends who are interested!!

Homecoming Presentation:  Arica, Lindsey, and Brian
Brian gave a brief overview on this year's Homecoming theme and calendar of events. St.A.R.T. members are strongly encouraged to help the committee by being members of sub-committees and participating in events. Since both organizations are housed in the BSUAA we should do our best to help each other out!!

Office Hours
Don't forget to sign up for office hours!!  A sheet was passed around the meeting, or you can let Kate know when you will be in the office. You are only required 1 hour every other week so please remember your commitment. 

Past Activity Reports
Fall Activity Fair 8/18/07 – Paul attended the Activity Fair and noted that quite a few people came up to the table for additional information. They gave away St.A.R.T. cups.

  • Half-Century Club Revisit: September 12
  • Hoosier Park Thoroughbred Racing Alumni Outing: September 15 (Brad & Ryan)
  • Fall Career Fair: September 19 (Whitney)
  • Homecoming Royalty Fashion Show: September 26 – all invited to attend to cheer on our royalty candidates – Meg and Paul!!!
  • Men's Golf Team Reunion: September 29 (Mariela)
  • Homecoming:  October 8-13

Ammouncements/Other Business
Blogging opportunity:  This is your change to share your "on campus" and "off campus" experiences with the alumni!  Ask Laura for more details! J. BSUAA staff member, Steve Fulton, will set up blogging space for us on our web site. Paul has volunteered to be our first blogger. This is a great way to fill up office hour time!
